Stuck on KT Tape,
This review is from: Kinesio Tex Tape - Water Resistant Beige, 2" x 5.5 yd. Single Roll for Kinesio Taping (Health and Beauty)
This tape is used by a lot of health professionals, such as chiropractors, physical therapists, etc. for good reasons, such as:
-its water resistant -the stuff is really sticky and stays on -it can be used on many different parts/joints of the body -its stretchy If you're looking for some good, all purpose versatile tape to brace an area, such as a knee, or a wrist or elbow, give it a try! Also recommend Treat Your Own Tennis Elbow if you need more options for tennis elbow.

I am a CKTP...or Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner. I am also a sports med. doctor and treat amateur and professional athletes. I can attest to the fact that you need a good knowledge of kinesiology and biomechanics to maximize the effects of this tape. The tape can be used to facilitate and inhibit muscle function, mechanically correct joint and soft tissue issues, functionally correct impaired movement patterns, and is great for lymph/circulation issues.
The problem nowadays is that every runner/triathlete/athlete want to go out and buy this tape, or Rocktape, and slap it on. Mind you, if it's applied incorrectly, you risk significant damage to your body. For example, if you wish to facilitate a muscle and you end up inhibiting it, you can do yourself a lot of harm, especially over the course of a sporting event. It's best to see a CKTP before you play around with this stuff. Unless you know your anatomy and kinesiology at a very high level, this tape should not be used. Sure, people don't want to see a professional as it means taking time, a co-pay, etc...but, being you can alter the function of your musculoskeletal system, it's probably worth it to know the correct application of the tape for your issue(s) before you do something that could potentially create harm. Just my two cents.

This product is used to help support and to prevent torn muscle pain. It is water resistant and easy to apply, my mother shoulder pain has been eased with it's use.

As a physician, I was doubtful about the ability of this type of taping in helping my knee and back. However, I was talked into it by a friend. I was pleasently surprised and it has given me an alternative to wearing a Professional Donjoy knee brace. It is comfortable and surprisingly supportive. I would recommend that if you are interested find a certified kinesio taping practitioner in your area.

Don't buy this tape unless you've been told that you need it and shown how to use it. I asked my doctor for a single visit to a physical therapist, who evaluated the problem (patellofemoral syndrome, i.e. kneecaps not tracking correctly) and showed me exactly which way my knees were mistracking and how to apply the tape to make them track correctly. If you're an average person without a physical therapy or M.D. background, you won't be able to figure out which way your personal knees need to go and how to apply the tape on your own. There are Youtube videos, but how do you know your particular knees need the same thing? You could actually be making the problem worse. If you can't afford a doctor's visit, try a brace instead. If, on the other hand, you've been shown what to do, the Kinesio Tex Tape Gold (gold refers to the type, not a color) is great because it's sturdier and holds up much better than the regular. It can even be worn for up to three days (yes, it holds up in the shower) if you're someone who runs every day and needs the support. Just dry it with the blow-dryer on cold (hot can make it melt to your skin -- ouch!).

...because it doesn't leave any sticky residue and won't rip your partner's skin off. And if you're into water sports, you're in luck- It's also water resistant!

My chiropractor suggested this as a way of reducing forward shoulder rotation that causes nerve compression and referring pain through my arm and wrist as well as my neck. It's useful while sleeping (I don't "collapse" as much when on my side) or while using a computer at work. It is very comfortable, durable, and can easily be worn under clothing (even a bra!). It's amazing how much drug-free pain relief this product provides!I don't generally have skin allergies, but I did experience an allergic reaction on my skin from the tape. From reading the other reviews, it looks like I'm not the only one. However, I only had problems after using the tape for 24 hours straight without washing. If I wore it just overnight or just during the day and showered after, I didn't notice any issues. I'm about to order another roll, so we'll see how it goes!

You will heal faster, but not for the reasons you might think!,
This review is from: Kinesio Tex Tape, Black (Health and Beauty)
This tape is versatile stuff! I bought it because I had a terrible calf pull. I am not sure if it helped my calf heal any faster as a result but I figured that it couldn't hurt. What did heal faster are cuts and blisters. How, you might ask? As a Crossfit athlete, I tear my palms all the time on the pull-up bar. Getting a bandage that will fit and stick to a palm tear and that will allow me to keep working out has been next to impossible until I discovered this tape. Compared to regular exercise tape, it is much more flexible and the backing on the tape makes it super easy to cut into any configuration. It also breathes and drys quickly and last for days before it needs to be replaced. You still will want to put on a regular band-age and antibiotic gel first but the kinesio tape will keep it all in place. I love this stuff!

Ive bought these for one reason, my blisters in my toe. I play soccer and always had problems on blisters up to the point of cherry looking internal bleeding blister conditions of intensive soccer sessions. These were intended for muscle support and kinetic movements but trying ALL Sorts of ways from sock ventilation, cotton moisture and what not, nylon/polyester percentages, standard athletic white cotton socks, dual soccks in which all have failed because soccer sock market is complete failure in quality and even figured the internal sole support called Superfeet which has helped me, has cause major undiscovered under toe blisters because of its ridiculous grit-paper material on the green models. Had to cut my original internal soles and combined it with my Superfeet for soft toe cushion yet not losing the arch support on the mid end. But these absolutely are a life save, after trying on vaseline, feet talc and some duct tape wrapped twice, they all failed, duct tape would slip out and cause major sweat toe disaster with gooey mess. What helped me on these is that the adhesiveness on these are pure awesomeness. Especially if you wrap these and let the tape overlap each other about half inch, on its own cotton material it would surpass adhesiveness like never before, instant lock. Since their stretchy, I would stretch them about 50% percent for snug wrap for them not to slip, adding on top the adhesiveness guarantee. The removable paper has about 2x2 cut outs for reference, cut snips of 2x4 and then cut them by half, long wise for toe measurements i found to be ideal. Never tried these as intended, nor I would want to because it would assume my injury, not something everybody would like. I would post some images for cutting measurements. Please leave any commentary under this if this has been a problem for you.
