Best Kinesiology Textbook for Joint Mechanics!,
By Dr. Joseph Muscolino (Redding, CT United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kinesiology of the Musculoskeletal System (Hardcover)
As an Instructor of Musculoskeletal anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology classes, Chiropractor, and author of books on the musculoskeletal system, I buy and read most every book published on the subject of kinesiology. Donald Neumann's book on Kinesiology is hands-down the absolute best kinesiology textbook out for joint mechanics. His book is clearly written in a straight-forward manner that makes it accessible to most anyone and yet it is also the most thorough book on this subject. Further, Elisabeth Rowan's illustrations are the best I have ever seen in a kinesiology text; they are sharp and clear, enabling 3-Dimensional movement to be easily visualized on a 2-Dimensional page. I believe that this book is a must for any student of the musculoskeletal system!

Excels in explaining 3D motion on the 2D page,
By Jennifer C Schaufer (Antigo WI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kinesiology of the Musculoskeletal System (Hardcover)
Very clear explanations of movement systems. The book is divided into regions of the body and a chapter on gait. The illustrations are excellent and help the reader to make connections between the body and outside and muscular forces acting on it. Highly recommended, esp. for those who took a kinesio course a while ago, and could use a good reference and refresher to apply to the clinic.

This was a text in my master's program, I now work developing education programs for personal trainers and use Neumann's book as a prime reference. The author does an excellent job of describing how muscles function in vertical, upright movements as opposed to how they are often described from a horizontal, supine position on a table. This book is a must-have reference for any fitness professional interested in understand human movement as it relates to the environment

A Great Book for Massage Therapist, Chiropractors, PTs, and Fitness Trainers,

This review is from: Kinesiology of the Musculoskeletal System (Hardcover)
Throughout four years of college followed by chiropractic school, I don't think I ever read a textbook from cover-to-cover like a novel - and enjoyed it - until I came across this one. In addition to being highly readable, the illustrations are also superb. I agree with the reviewer who said they give a 3D image in a 2D media. The book is very helpful in taking one's understanding of anatomy and movement to a deeper level. A few years after reading this book, I took a course in structural integration and also had some training in orthopedic massage. The information offered in this book was very useful for both of those studies.

There is so much detail and information in this book helpful for any individual studying, or trying to apply into mechanical practice, that I don't even know where to begin. Hands down the best resouce for anyone interested in Kinesiology. You really need to check it out for yourself. I highly recommend this book.

Don Neumann's book is extremely useful for its wonderful drawings and diagrams. For a visual learner like me, the pictures make kinesiology much easier to understand.
My only complaint is that the pictures are not full color...

Useful book for PTs, not for LMTs. Book full of information if you like to know more about Kinesiology beyond massage school material

This text has great illustrations, but some of the writing is more simple than could be expected for doctoral students.
