This is not a "double boiler," but a "double steamer." It has holes in the bottom of the top pan for steaming vegetables. this is not the pan to buy if you want to melt items like chocolate. Amazon was not the first to label this pan incorrectly. The good news is that it was easy to return to Amazon for a full refund.

Double boilers, once a standby in most kitchens, have practically disappeared on the retail market. I was, therefore, very pleased to find a choice of these items on Amazon, and I am also very pleased with the one which I selected. The Innova stainless-steel double boiler set is just what's needed for gentle cooking.

I have a set of Innova Classicor and I love them. I have had them for about 10 years and I haven't had any problems with them. My set didn't come with the double boiler so I decided to get this one. It also could be used as a spare 2 qt. sauce pan.
