I bought this product some time ago to bake meats in. (I decided either they were going to taste good or I was going vegetarian!) I'd researched the offerings out there and found that was much more reasonably priced and much more versatile (reversible lid, nice size) than anything else I'd found. I wasn't sure what to think as I had not heard of the brand or anything about it. And, this would be my first enameled cast-iron pan. However, after much debate and procrastination, I finally bought it and tried it out with store brand chicken. I just it in the pan, sprinkled seasonings on it, and baked it in the oven with the grill pan as a lid - that's it.

End result - tasty, juicy -skinless chicken breast-! I've -never- had baked chicken turn out this good; it was fall of the bone tender like rotisserie chicken. No marinading. No extra slow baking. Not dry. Not tough. And, just the store brand. And, I enjoyed every bite. Who knew!

What next? Cornbread? Stews? Pork chops? Whatever it is, I'm optimistic that this new old fashioned pan will help make it cook much better.

A few comments though - Meats are juicy when cooked with the lid on, and the grill pan side can be very hard to clean.

I bought this pot because I needed a casserole pot and I was thrilled that the lid was also a cooking surface for grilling. However when I received the item, I was a little disappointed because the lid is too shallow for cooking very much in it - maybe a little onion and garlic. The bottom of the duo is a nice enough pot for cooking and can actually hold some veggies in it. One thing I noticed is that when you cook with the lid on the pot, the steam and condensation discolors and rusts the edges of the pot. All in all, it is a nice pot but a little pricey for what I actually got.

I liked the weight and finish of the product. I thought it was large enough to braise a family sized portion of chicken. It isn't.

It is an interesting dish. however, the capacity is tremendously misleading. I have great expertise with cast iron and cooking vessels in general and the capacity everywhere advertised on this one made me buy it. unfortunately I am sceptical as to the way this has been measured in volume. Coming from Europe that means we calculate things in litres. Fine. One deducts 100ml so one has a quart. This is not a 4.5 litre pot, even with the lid added to the capacity. I tend to use it for risotto now for 4-5 persons as a side dish! Try to stir the siotto for more people and most of the rice will be on the stove. I braise fillets or bake apple pies in it. Meal combined all in one pot, vegetables, side and meat, it is good for 2-3 people. If more, not. the lid doubles as a grill, true, yet one may only grill 2-3 small pieces of meat. wait for sales and invest in a different, more established brand, with true volume/capacity. I still wonder, after 3 years, why these poeple haven't changed the volume advertised...

Was looking for a cast iron pan for beef burgundy. This one was of a size that was suitable for me (not too big). It is very heavy. I also baked a pineapple upsidedown cake which came out perfect!! However, the lid with the grill wasn't as good as I thought it should be. Loved the color!!
