safe to microwave and the lid-licking mechanism is fantastic,
This review is from: Kinetic Glass lock 64 Ounce Rectangular Glass Food Storage Container With Locking Lid (Kitchen)
I am hoping Amazon will stock more this brand and make it more affordable. I will order more from here, but bought my first glasslock elsewhere.
The glass base is heavier than expecte, but mircowaves very well. I love the lid lock and it is one of the best locking mechanish out there. it is flexible enough for easy snap one and snap off, but the hinge is made of durable material so that it does not break off easily. I have been using this to heat up left overs for lunches for 6 months now: the lid keeps the food in the container and does not appear to be easily knocked off whislt in my backpack and the glass does retain the heat for additional conduction during the first 10 minutes out of the microwave. Please take the lid off before microwaving. I also love it that I can reheat food without use of any plastic and hence I dont end up throwing away food since there has been no healthy way to do, until now.

I bought this for storing coffee in my freezer. I've been extremely disappointed with most of the sealing canisters I've purchased in the past. All of their seals are very poor if you're looking for a glass canister (a must for coffee since it prevents it from picking up odors that plastic can let through). This Kinetic Glasslock storage container is wonderful. It's seal is rock solid. Yes, it does take more force to seal than a tuperware container, but that extra effort is worth it because once sealed, the container can literally be turned upside down and shook without leakage. If you're looking for a very high quality glass storage canister, look no further.
A note to those having trouble sealing the canister: You have to make sure the lid is pressed down fully before engaging the clamps on the sides. If it's not lined up properly, you have to fight with the clamps to get them sealed properly. Align the lid, then do the clamps on opposite edges (doesn't matter which sides first), then do the other pair. This makes sealing the canister quite easy.

RubyD,

This review is from: Kinetic Glass lock 64 Ounce Rectangular Glass Food Storage Container With Locking Lid (Kitchen)
I recently purchased two of the 64 ounce rectangular Kinetic Glasslock food storage containers. The glass is nice and heavy and the idea for the snap on lid is a great system, however, I am having a terrible time snapping the lids down. I am not a weakling and I think I will need a shoulder replacement due to the heavy pushing that is needed to lock the lid. I contacted Kinetic direct and they have sent me two new lids and frankly they are worse than the lids that came with the containers. We cannot lock the new lids at all. Although the containers are advertised as 64 ounces of storage this is misleading as 64 ounces goes to the very top of the container leaving no room for the lid. In other words, if you fill the container to the brim and attempt to put the lid on you will have an overflowing mess. The manufacturer needs to provide at least an extra 1/2" of space for the lid to clamp down. If you need the full 64 oz storage you would still not avoid a mess by using plastic wrap as 64 oz goes right to the brim. The glass is beautiful and the concept of the snap lock is excellent, but unfortunately, they do not seem to work, at least not on the containers that I have. Many years ago I purchased glass storage by Frigoverre and although they have had allot of use still look like new. Over the last couple of years I have purchased more by the Frigoverre line and have no problems and can highly recommend this line. If anyone can offer any suggestions on what I might do to get the Glasslock lids to secure easier please write a comment. I have not decided yet as to whether or not I will send back the two Glasslock containers. Again, I love the concept. I just hope my shoulders & wrists hold up due to the extreme pushing that is needed to the lock the lids.
