THIS CD IS A MUST FOR ANY FAN OF CANNED HEAT,WITH, THE ADDED BONUS OF "HOLLYWOOD FATS", AKA MIKE MANN, ON GUITAR. THERE ISN'T A BAD CUT ON THIS FABULOUS RECORDING.OF THE SMALL AMOUNT OF RECORDINGS BY THE LATE FATS, THIS IS A TRUELY GREAT FIND.THE TWO BOOGIE CUTS ON THIS CD ARE OUTRAGEOUS!TURN YOUR FRIENDS ON TO THIS CD.GLORIOUS!

Too bad this is just a one hour set made for radio play. I couldn't help but get up and boogie to the Heat's infectious foot stomping beat when I listened to this CD this morning. Canned Heat's studio work is great, but their live performances are legendary for pumping up the audience and this King Buscuit performance is no exception.

What is greatly needed - and long overdue - is a double CD of Canned Heat doing a full extended length set. What ever happened to their Woodstock tapes? The new Jimi Hendrix Live At Woodstock double CD is great - but can you boogie and dance to it?

Long live Canned Heat and long live boogie!

This CD is from a Woodstock 10 year anniversary reunion show in 1979. It is 45 minutes long and has about 35 minutes worth of music (the rest is Hite jabbering to the audience). The sound quality is OK, but the mix is bad. The bass is way to up front in parts.

Cofounder, guitarist, singer and composer Alan Wilson had died the year after woodstock. The other cofounder, Bob Hite continued on with the band (until he died two years after this concert). In that time, the band sort of evolved from a blues and boogie band to more of a rockabilly southern band. They seem like a cross between Little Feat and Steve Earle.

For this show, the only original members of the band (to have played on the last album, Human Condition) are Bob Hite on lead vocals and little bit of harmonica and Adolfo de la Parra on drums. Bassist Larry Taylor is back in the band after leaving in 1971. I don't know how much he practiced with the band before the show. He bass lines seem pretty simplistic on a number of the songs. The band also has a new guitarist and keyboardist which do have some pretty good moments and others not so good. The guitarist seems to borrow from everyone.

The playing on some of the songs is not that inspired. The band just runs through songs like On the Road Again and Bullfrog Blues. There aren't any of the great boogies the band was famous for in the past. But, it is still fairly enjoyable in some parts. With a burner, I will rip about 20 minutes of pretty good music.

I am surprised to see that this is still available on Amazon. May of the King Biscuit CDs by other groups are out of print and only avialable on Wolfgangs Vault. There are other versions of this concert also floating around under different names.

Wow, what a very good band! I had no idea, judging by only hearing a couple of their songs, that Canned Heat was *this* good. This is seriously some spectacular boogie rock! Actually, that's only one of the things the band does- they also jam quite a lot on the guitar, and their ability to jam is always melodic and exciting. A very good band. Pick up this album today.

The only known recording of canned heat with Legendary guitar maestro Michael "Hollywood Fats" Mann. Great Disc Papa Bear is in great form and Fats shows why his legend just keeps growing. a must have for anyone who loves good Rock and blues and BOOGIE

As a live attraction, Canned Heat still kicks, even to this day (even without the presence of rotund frontman Bob "The Bear" Hite). On this CD, recorded live for the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show, the band, along with the late blues guitar master, Hollywood Fats, celebrate the 10th anniversary of Woodstock by burning through the band's best-loved classics as well as a couple of really good new tunes. If you love boogie-blues, you can't go wrong with *any* live Canned Heat CDs.

Canned Heat has always felt like the life of the party anytime they've played live, and the King Biscuit Flower Hour catches them in their glory. With such gems like Bullfrog Blues, Chicken Shack, and their classic Goin' Up the Country, you can't help but really love this cd.-Matt Story

Boogie music is alive and well in 1979, and Canned Heat are a rompin' and a stompin' in concert on this release. Full of spirit, fun, boogie, and rock n' roll, you get a party out of Canned Heat. But after a while you'll notice that the guitar sounds exactly like one of those bands you see at a summer carnival or fest. Maybe Canned Heat was playing at a summerfest because you can't help but feel like you're at one listening to this. Oh well, when ever you have a backyard barbeque party, make sure you play this because it is a fun listen.
