5.0 out of 5 stars They'll wail you., June 26, 2001
This review is from: King Brothers (Audio CD)
I can't ... I'm trying ...I'm crying. The King Brothers made me bleed. I had to throw out some records after seeing them live. Just threw them out. Jon Spencer. Threw that out. Man or Astro Man. Tossed it. The King brothers took me to school, took me to church, wrote on my face with a pencil and left with my hat. In Japanese. After their show, I couldn't function like a normal human being until I threw some cinderblocks into a few backyard swimming pools. So the album is a fine thing, but the stage experience must be like the rush of meeting Jim Jones and believing in him: You think you're gonna die.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heroic noise, March 22, 2001

Dr. Klamm (Austin, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: King Brothers (Audio CD)
I recently saw the King Brothers perform at a small club in Austin. They were loud, jarring, noisy, rhythmic. They were impeccably attired--skinny ties and duct-taped shoes. They hopped from table to table, licking the walls and devouring the contents of ashtrays. They did not pause between songs. They never stopped.

This is a band of majesty, depravity, and transcendent beauty. They have come to us from an Age of Giants and Heroes, possibly to save us or destroy us or pour Lone Star beer all over us. But I can't say for sure; they sing in Japanese. That is, of course, entirely irrelevant. They are the best rock 'n' roll band ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yeah!, June 4, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: King Brothers (Audio CD)
My friend said to me: "The Japanese take everything American and do it better."

I say Rock and Roll as we know it died the minute this album was recorded.

If you don't have it, buy it. If you haven't seen them live, you suck.
