5.0 out of 5 stars Latin Ska Stew
King Chango is a fine group of musicians who play their music with lots of intensity, conviction, and high energy. These guys rock the house! King Chango is a fine group of musicians who play their music with lots of intensity, conviction, and high energy. These guys rock the house! Lots of uptempo music that crosses over into various styles such as Ska, Reggae, Salsa, and Fokloric. The blending of styles is never confusing and flows as if they were created to be played simultaneously. The vocals by "Blanquito Man" are in English and Spanish within the same songs for a delightful effect. At other times it is only in one language, usually Spanish. This is roots music of the new immigrants, true to their roots but well versed in the new language they have adopted. The style of singing fluctuates between rag-a-muffin to pure salsa. The horn section is tight and keeps the band moving in an inspired direction. The Afro-Cuban influences are everywhere, con mucho sabor. This is party music that will leave you feeling exhilirated and ready for more. As with much of Rock en Espanol there are messages in the music. The opening track "Drop Your Pants" sings about "drug dealers and sex dealers" with explicit lyrics and suffice to say, they are against the corrupt injection of this into society. This is a song with an international theme. King Chango says they are "rich freaks with money". The songs are not always controversial but they always rock. If you like Latin Jazz and Ska this is an excellent first release for these American modern rude boys. The melting pot of styles creates a flavorful stew of Jazzy-Latin-Ska that is hot and tasty.

Great album. Latin flavour mixed with afro-venezuelan drums and other caribean rythmes. Excellent combination: venezuelan singer: Blanquito Man, Luis Blanco, from China: Glenda Lee and many more... ska, reggae and Venezuelan roots and culture all together in a great album... their best!

5.0 out of 5 stars King Chango is a perfect mix of Latin, Ska, Reggae..., February 20, 2002

King Changos most recent CD- The return of El Santo, is a perfect mix of world, latin, ska, reggae, rock, salsa, hip-hop and much much more. The songs are full of energy- from the up-beat 'Finalmente' 'Best dressed ....', and 'full time business' to the slower songs 'Li'l Sister' and the sexy love ballard 'Sin Ti.' King Chango's 'Return of El Santo' is the best CD ever! =)
