Unexpected Mystery,
By
This review is from: King Devil (Hardcover)
If you haven't yet discovered Charlotte MacLeod's single title mysteries, you're in for a treat. She is a good plotter, her story lines are not easy to guess. Her characters are well drawn and fleshed out.
King Devil is a bit of a departure as it takes place in an earlier time. When females had less rights and women of a certain class were not expected or allowed to work. Read Lavinia's story, I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as I did. The only reason I didn't give this book five stars has to do with a plot divice which I can't go into without spoiling it for you.
