Book Description

January 1, 2009
Born in the Year of the Dragon at the hour of the Dragon, Bruce Lee seemed destined for greatness from birth. Throughout his life people whose lives he touched could sense his inner strength and spiritual awareness and were drawn to it. Later in his film career, that same magnetism coupled with his martial arts abilities made for a powerful screen presence that demanded an audience s attention. Norman Borine, a personal friend of the Lee family and proprietor of The World of Bruce Lee Museum, tells the story of the martial artist s amazing life from birth to death, including anecdotes and quotes from Lee s family, friends, students and fans, as well as interesting facts about his amazing physical prowess and films.

Editorial Reviews

Review

What follows is my new updated book review of the Bruce Lee biography, King Dragon, written by the late Norman Borine. Norman, as many fans will know, was the creator of the famous World of Bruce Lee museum, totaling 15,000 square feet, which contained hundreds of items all relating to the life of Bruce Lee. Credit must go to Norman's nephew, Bill Borine, who has done a first class job in updating and expanding the book in tribute to Norman and to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Bruce Lee's passing. I had the pleasure of assisting Bill by including more factual information and by checking the manuscript. Therefore, I was extremely looking forward to receiving this new edition. I am absolutely overjoyed to report that I was in no way left disappointed by the reworked 2nd Edition of King Dragon The World of Bruce Lee. The book looks amazing and is a glowing testament to the remarkable life of Bruce Lee. ----John Overall

About the Author

orman Borine, known as the man most credited with keeping Bruce Lee s name alive through all the lean years, spent two decades making sure the world didn t forget the martial artist. Grace Lee once said of the former proprietor of The World of Bruce Lee Museum, [He] did more for my son than any single person. Grace really believes Bruce reached down and guided me, Norman said about his friend. The movie people had a helluva lot to do with his success in one aspect, but I doubt that anyone had the basic spiritual interest in Bruce that I had. This interest all started because of a dream-vision Norman experienced in 1973, and it guided his life for the next 20 years. The night before he went to see Enter the Dragon and was converted to a Bruce Lee fan, he dreamed of being in China. He could see the Great Wall; then a dojo. Suddenly there was a huge blast and there people all over the streets selling newspapers. Next, he saw thousands of people lining a street and watching a funeral procession. At the end of the procession he saw Linda Lee and her children. The casket then mysteriously floated up into the sky, along with Linda and the children, and they were swallowed by an airplane. Then the dream ended. That was the beginning, and the end came two decades later with the sale of the collection. It s very much like losing part of yourself, Borine said, referring to selling off the contents of The World of Bruce Lee.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Collectible or Gift, June 12, 2009
This book gave an interesting view of Bruce Lee's life told with quotes from friends and family. Author Norman Borine was a family friend and counted Bruce Lee's mother, Grace, among his closest friends. Lee was an interesting and compelling person and this is proven by both the story of his life and the information about his great physical prowess. The book also includes many photos, both of Lee, and of exhibits in Borine's World of Bruce Lee museum. This would be a great addition to any Bruce Lee fan's collection.
