4.0 out of 5 stars Fun but lacking, July 23, 2002

I understand this is one of the first sidescrolling games ever not long after Final Fight. So for it's day, it really is a decent game. The best thing about it is the fun factor, though each character only has 1 basic attak and magic. The RPG element added to the game with level ups and all makes it cool but it doesn't really change the character much escept for the wizard. It's simple but fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars good sidescroller action, November 1, 2006

You know, this game makes a great party game for friends. When I was younger I had two friends come over and want to play this game more than any other game in my collection. They even wanted to play King of Dragons more than the classics like Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country which was CRAZY!

I received King of Dragons as a present one year. I didn't know anything about the game before I received it- I just knew it was a Super NES game that looked like it was filled with action, judging by the pictures.

The game sure has become a classic over time. It's much better than Golden Axe, in my opinion, because the graphics are more colorful, detailed, and just better. You can pick six characters. You go around killing skeletons and other demons and bad guys. It's the only thing you do, but it's fun. I can't believe Golden Axe received the popularity over this game. King of Dragons is clearly better.

The game is tough. I can't beat it unless I enter the 99 lives cheat code. The best thing about the game is the way the characters yell out a certain distinct sound. You'll know what sound I'm referring to when you play the game.

This is just one of those games that everyone loves.

4.0 out of 5 stars King of the Dragons is not the king, but still worth a look., March 29, 2002

This game is alot like Dungeons and Dragons tower of doom, but toned way down. The graphics are ok. If you have to play with wizards, elfs, and fighters go for it. It is cool, you fight lots of skeletons etc. The only thing is you don't really have no moves, just your weapon and some magic. It still is pretty good once you get to fighting, don't expect much out of it and you will like it. If you can't find a copy of Legend snes. I would try it, it aint too bad and it reminds me of Tower of doom.
Which is a big plus. Tower of Doom is the king of final fight rip
offs.

5.0 out of 5 stars move over turles, May 17, 2007
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: King of Dragons (Video Game)
If you grew up playing ninja turles four you'll love this. You play as one of sixteen charcaters for sixteen stages fighting various enemies and bosses. The bosses include the final red dragon Glidass a couple of cyclops and two buff miontaurs one is and actually boss and the second one is a half way boss. Expect to die alot I recommend getting this one the capcon to collection rather than order it by itself self so you will have infinite counties once you adjust the settings. King of dragons is definitely on of the best superninetndo fighting games of all time. Can you defeat the evil read dragon. Go forth and find out and may the mystic be with you!

This is a really old game it came out in very, early 1990s when super Nintendo was still in business before Nintendo decide to discontinue the system and take of most modern day game stores. Used versions of this game are still up for sale on Amazon.com but copies of it are kind of pricey the cheapest you can purchase a copy of this on line by itself in it's original unaltered format is somewhere in between $25 and 30 dollars with the ship fee included depending on what condition it is in. You can all get this on Capcom collection volume 2 for the Playstation 2. A word of advice if you are inexperienced at really long fighting games which last more than 4 to 7 stages such as Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles IV Turtles In Time and stuff like that, I recommend the first time you play this game you put on the highest amount of lives possible and the easiest difficult setting if your play it on the Capcon Classic Collection volume 2disk in additon, I highly suggest you change the number of continues at the menu screen from the default setting of limit to no contiues to unlimited. This will come in hand especially when you get to the last 1/2 of the game Sages 8-16.

Starting here the enemies especially the bosses get stronger and take more hits to defeat. You definitely want infinite continues and max lives for this game especially when face the final boss the gigantic red dragon. He has about six to 9 bars of health that you need to deplete before he goes down.
It will take several blows/ attack to the head by your magic or weapon depen one which six charaters you chose to take down this Garguantan giant of a Boss. Your are going to want strike the red dragon in the face as fast as frequently as you can will doing his fire blast attack from his mouth.

Try to dogged the dragon fire breath attacks as much as you can by up our around the screen until you r out of his attack range this get more difficult as he get lower on vital If you do get hit by him for the few brief few seconds you are invulnerable like in may old clasic games after. Even if your at level 15 like I was this boss can take up about maybe 2 to 20 minutes our longer to defeat depend on how often you get hit how much health you have left most bosses kill with only about 2 to 8 hits as well normal enemies. More than maybe a few direct hits from his fire breath or less will deplete you health bar to nothing so have this on free play mode so you can take as much time as you have free to finish the gam. There is also a save feature that saves your game. So you can save right in the middle of a boss fight come back later and resume the game as long as you don't erase your file on you memory card or save over with another file. There is also cheat you can use if your playing the super Nintendo version if you know how to activate it that suppidly gives you 99 lives. If you like this game I aso recommend you get it i on the The Capcom Collection Volume II for Play station two than you can own it buy alone with 19 other games. If you like this I also recommend you try Captain Commando also on the Campcon Classics Collection volume 2 game disk. for Playstation 2

A word of advice on how to purchase this game. This is a really old game it came out in very early 1990s when super Nintendo was still in Business before Nintendo decide to discontinue and take super out of modern day game stores in the late 1990s and put them in storage along with it's processors plain Nintendo or eight bit and Hitarie. Used versions of this game are still up for sale on Amazon.com but copies of it are kind of pricey the cheapest you can purchase a copy of this on line by itself in it's original unaltered format is somewhere in between 30 and 35 dollars with the ship fee included depending on what condition it is in. I got this on Capcom collection volume 2 in Play station II to format which include this and 19 other games for under 30 dollars with the tax including about. A word of advice if you are inexperienced at really long fighting games which last more than 4 stages such as Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles IIII Turtles In Time and stuff like that I recommend the first time you play this game you put on the highest amount of lives possible and the easiest setting. Also recommend if your playing it on Capcom Collection Volume II in Plastation II or X box format I highly suggest you change the number of continues at the menu screen from the default setting of no continues to infinite continues. This will come in hand especially when you get to the last 1/3 of the game that is stages 9 -16. Starting here the enemies especially the bosses get stronger and take more hits to defeat. You definitely want infinite continues and max lives when face the final boss the gigantic red dragon who has about six to 9 bars of health that. It will take several dozen blows to the head by your magic or weapon depending on which of the six available characters you are playing as before this colossal of a boss is conquered. Your are going to want strike the red dragon in the face as fast as frequently as the can will doing his fire blast from his mouth. Try to dogged the dragon fire breath attacks as much as you can by jumped around on the scream or going up to the dragon and attack him for the few brief few seconds you are invulnerable after you get hit. Even if your at level 15 like I was this boss can take up maybe to twenty minutes our longer to defeat depend on how often you get hit. About two direct hits from his fire blast will deplete you health bar to nothing. There is a cheat on the super Nintendo version some how if activated that gives you 99 lives that another person that reviewed this game used to beat it. If you like this game I recommend you get it on the The Capcom Collection Volume II for Play station two than you can own it buy if alone with the other 19 games include on it for only about 73% of the price that Amazon is charging for a copy in very good condition. This will save you about $16 dollars and sixteen cents in cash. If you like this I also recommend you try Captain Commando.
