T.I.P. shows and proves with his latest release King. T.I. is not only the King of the South, he is one of the few rappers in the game who has a lasting appeal with both male and female listeners. King is the follow-up to T.I.'s 2005 release Urban Legend. Urban Legend was a tight album. The thing about Urban Legend is even the songs that didn't get played on the radio were solid. King is equally satisfying to the ear drums. The album opens with the Rocky type of intro "King Back." The intro is followed by the song "Front Back," which was a buzz/street single. "Front Back," is followed by the song "What You Know." This song was featured in the movie ATL and has became a quite unlikely radio hit. Unlikely because it's a more laid back song to ride to, not the kind of song you hear on the radio a lot. It sounds different than anything out there and even T.I. sounds different on the track spitting in a much deeper and raspy tone but the song caught on with listeners and radio. A killer track didn't hurt.

There are so many good songs on King. "Live In The Sky," is a song about coping with loss and lifes ups & downs. This is an incredible song and Jamie Foxx is featured on the track. T.I. experiments on the song "Get It." The track is unique and T.I. keeps his flow on pace with the tricky track. Another really good song on King is "Goodlife" which features Pharrell and Common.

The latest single from King "Why You Wanna" is gaining in airplay on radio. The song features a sample from the Crystal Waters song "Gypsy Woman."

T.I brought in some super star power to support him on King. Featured artists include UGK, Jamie Foxx, B.G., Young Jeezy, Young Buck, Young Dro, Pharrell, Common, Governor, and P$C.

King is a really solid album and music lovers will be listening to this CD for months to come

This new T.I. album has an all star cast in it namely UGK, Young Dro and even Jamie Foxx, the cd has good beats and the regular gritty lyrics from the Ten Inch Playa.

1)King Back - Intro track not a bad start - 8/10

2)Front Back - UGK on this track and you know its going to be a hit - 9/10

3)What You Know - Bet alot of you guys have heard this has a trippy beat but the rhymes are alright - 8/10

4)I'm Talkin' To You - Hard song with Threatening lyrics to the fake and suckers not my personal fav. but its good none the less - 6/10

5)Live In The Sky - Smooth Song with Jamie Foxx in it, but its a great change from the song above and one of the best song in the album - 9/10

6)Ride Wit Me - My kind of song gangsta beat and a lyrics to suit the beat - 10/10

8)Why You Wanna - Another Smooth song i think TI loves doing this kind of songs, but i aint complainin he is doing good at it - 9/10

9)Get It - Trippy Lyrics and mediocore Rhymes not the greatest song in the album anyway i expected this after two class songs

10)Top Back - Hard Beats and good rhyming makes up for the last song - 7/10

11)I'm Straight - Featuring my Fav. song in the album having B.G and Young Jeezy, it has the southern type of beat and the lyrics are just that great am not that a big fan of Jeezy but this song delivers - 10/10 (Cut out the "yeeahs" in Jeezys Verse)

12)Undertaker - Features Young Buck and Young Dro well he is the only G-Unit member with some talent dont like the lot but this is TI's album and i have to say TI and Young Dro have done their Job well a pretty decent song - 7/10

13)Stand Up Guy - Nothing to get riled up about in this song just regular but still its alright, i guess - 7/10

14)You Know Who - Hard Beat and good lyrics but have heard better songs from him in this album only - 7/10

15)Goodlife - Just when the album is about to fall off this song comes up featuring Pharell Williams and the legendry Common
well enduring the last two songs were worth it for this song - 9/10

16)Hello - Yet again another Smooth song and yet again T.I. did good the song it features the regular singing from Governor, I am feeling this song though - 9/10

17)Told You So - Album is about to end the second last song it has a good beat and good lyrics too - 8/10

18)Bankhead - Features P$C and Young Dro Perfect Ending to this sweet album great beats and damn good lyrics - 9/10.

My Review - This album has a mixture of good and mediocore songs none of the songs are that bad so what are you waiting for go get it, wont regret it

My journey with TI started when I heard him on Bonecrusher's "Never Scared" which also featured Killer Mike. I had never heard of him before that track, but he had a nice verse at the end of "Never Scared". Shortly after hearing him on "Never Scared", I saw a video for a song that featured only TI which turned out to be "24s". The song was pretty good but that song alone wasn't enough to make me want to start buying TI CDs. However, when I saw his next video, "Be Easy", that all changed. Once I heard the nice, laid back track I figured that I would check out "Trap Muzik". My favorite tracks ended up being the third single, "Rubberband Man", "Trap Muzik", "I Still Luv U" and the classic collaboration with 8Ball, MJG & Bun B entitled "Bezzle". TI started catching momentum with "Rubberband Man" and his 4th single, "Let's Get Away", so before you know it he was already working on his next CD, "Urban Legend". The 1st single ended up being "Bring 'Em Out" where Swizz Beatz sampled a famous Jay Z line and created a nice Down South party track for T.I.P. to rock to. Before you know it TI had everyone in the club ready to hear this track at anytime. "Urban Legend" dropped and to me the CD was a notch up from "Trap Muzik" because overall the production was better. My favorite tracks ended up being "Motivation", "The Greatest", "Stand Up" w/Trick Daddy & Lil Wayne and "My Life" w/Daz Dillinger. "U Don't Know Me" was a favorite of mine as well but after hearing the song 236 times, I finally had to give the track a break. After TI dropped all of his singles for Urban Legend, he dropped a track with Lil Scrappy and Big Kuntry, who is in TI's group P$C entitled "I'm A King" that ended up being the lead single on the Hustle & Flow soundtrack. If anyone had doubts about TI's skills, they should have definitely became a believer by now. However, when you call yourself the King Of The South, you have to make sure that your skills are on point at all times.

"King" is actually TI's fourth solo CD. I never picked up "I'm Serious" which was his 1st solo CD, so I started listening to TI when "Trap Muzik" came out. "King" gets off to a nice start with the Just Blaze produced "King Back". TI does his best to proclaim his need for the crown. It is hard to argue with T.I.P. on this track because when you listen to the song it definitely makes you want to check out the rest of the CD. The 1st single, "What You Know" is in my opinion, the best track on "King". Even if your feet are cemented in the ground Toomp will have you bouncin' to this track. TI's lyrics are on point and it still seems that he has more words for Lil Flip towards the end of the song. The second single, "Front Back" is a tribute to UGK's original track, "Front, Back & Side To Side" from their "Super Tight" CD. I originally heard this track with just Bun B on a mixtape but once Pimp C returned home he probably just went to the studio and added a verse to the track. If you don't know anything about UGK and you like Down South rap music then definitely check out "Ridin' Dirty" and "Dirty Money" from UGK. You won't be disappointed. Just Blaze shows up again to produce "I'm Talkin' To You". On this track, TI sounds like he has alot of things to get off his chest. He definitely tells you who he is down with and who he is not talking to, but you will have a hard time trying to figure out who he is trying to diss. TI slows things down a bit on the heartfelt "Live In The Sky" which also features Jamie Foxx on the hook. This track reminds me of "Dead Homiez" by Ice Cube as TI takes the time out to reminisce about important people in his past that have passed away. This track is definitely one of my favorites on "King". On what will probably be the next single, TI has his specialty track for the ladies on "Why You Wanna". This track has club and crossover written all over it, however the track is still pretty good and very catchy. Mannie Fresh, who produced "Front Back" is also back to produce "Top Back". Cash Money should be kicking themselves in the *** after hearing this track for letting him leave Cash Money. TI does the rest with his lyrics and TI and Mannie are able to have good chemistry again just like they did on "The Greatest" from "Urban Legend". "I'm Straight" is a nice collaboration with TI, B.G. and Young Jeezy. Nick Fury provides a nice track and TI tells you that even without all the money from rapping as long as you give him the necessary ingredients that he'll be straight anyway. "Good Life" is produced by The Npetunes and features Common. That's right the same guy that dropped the classic "Be" CD is on a track with TI. Now that it's hard to imagine but when you have Pharrell on the boards anything is possible. Common drops a tight verse and TI does well on his 2 verses as well. This is my 2nd favorite track on "King". "Hello" samples the famous song that the Isley Brothers did a remake for, "Hello It's Me". TI has another track for the ladies and although Governor almost ruins the song by oversinging the hook, the song still ends up being pretty good.
"Bankhead" features P$C and Young Dro. The thing about "Bankhead" is that other than "I'm A King" it sounds better than any song that was on P$C's group CD "25 To Life". Although if you follow mixtapes P$C had a nice track with Paul Wall entitled "Killin' Me" that wasn't on their CD.

"King" is not without fault though. "Get It", which is produced by Swizz Beats is basically ridiculous. I guess T.I.P. had to give Swizz a chance to produce a track on "King" because of the success of "Bring 'Em Out". This time around, however, "Get It" doesn't cut it and should have been left off of the CD. It's definitely the worst song on "King". "Stand Up Guy" does not sound like a song that a King Of The South should be making. It offers nothing to the rest of the CD.

Overall, what TI shows me the most on "King" is consistency. The same way I was pleased with "Urban Legend" because of TI's lyrics and the overall production, I am also pleased with "King". However, "King" is not really that much better than "Urban Legend". They are really about the same.
If you liked "Trap Muzik" and "Urban Legend" like I did, then you will definitely have to pick up "King". He may not be the King Of The South to me, but he is definitely creating a place for himself among the top when it comes to Down South rappers.

So, this CD is on point. Not just because T.I. is one of my favorite rappers. Just skimming the CD I can't find a song I wouldn't listen to. You can find your favorites, but all around, a great CD. Definately worth every penny!

From the respectable I'm Serious, then the breakout Trap Muzik, to the acclaimed Urban Legend, Clifford "T.I.P." Harris, better known as T.I., is back with his fourth effort and perhaps finest effort, King (Grand Hustle/Atlantic). The latest dispatch from the trap finds Bankhead's finest again staking the claim to his throne and letting his subjects know that he's not relinquishing the crown anytime soon. It's been some time now since the self-proclaimed "King of the South" gave himself that moniker and you'd be hard pressed to dispute that hefty title after listening to his latest release.

T.I. welcomes some of the games legends and newcomers on King. Most notable, the Underground Kings (UGK) Bun B and the recently freed Pimp C spit fire on "Front Back" with Mannie Fresh bring back their legendary beat from "Front Back Side to Side" for the masses to enjoy. A definite smash that will have OG Houston Hip-Hop heads smiling. Relative newcomer and fellow Atlien, Young Jeezy, another trapper extraordinaire, accompanies him on "I'm Straight" along with the NO's BG. For those who wondered if there was love between T.I. and Young Jeez, wonder no more, they are breaking and making bread.

Of course a king needs his harem and he lures them in with the Crystal Waters lifting "Why You Wanna". Grand Hustle producer by Kevin "Khao" Cates sexily slows down Waters' "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)" keys and interpolates Q-Tip lyrics from Janet Jackson's "Got `Til It's Gone" nicely. Impressive and imaginative this will surely be a summertime single with lines like, "I wanna kiss you everywhere between your knees and waist/Hear the sounds that you make and get your knees to shake." It might even inspire some ladies to throw the panties in the air and cop a flight to Atlanta to see if he practices what he preaches.

T.I. again brings in heavyweight production to ensure he captures a wide array of audiences. Whether you prefer Mannie Fresh ("Top Back") over Just Blaze ("King Back"), or Swizz Beatz ("Get It") over the Neptunes ("Good Life" f/ Common), it don't matter, you get a little bit from all of them. The latter is a welcome surprise since the combination of T.I., Pharrell and Common is an unlikely, but surprisingly good mishmash. However, what was unpredictably dull and not needed were the skits with Mike Epps. Yes, we all know Mike is funny but was it needed?...Nah! Skits don't make an album; especially if they have very little to do with the subject matter.

The current single and the cut that will surely cause the folks from the hoods to the `burbs to bounce in unison, "What You Know", is the primary reason this ATL sovereign will continue to reign supreme. His witty and catchy lyrics and slow drawl flow will make you mouth the words while looking hella serious in your whip, on the subway or footin' it with your iPod on full blast. "What you know about that!"

The album is fire another hot release from the south. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I don't like the Swiss Beats joint. This is just another example on how the south is holding it down. Within the last year Bun B, Young Jeezy, and now T.I. and I could go on calling out southern rap artist. But any one reading this from the south you already know what it is.

T.I.'s (Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr.) fourth album is "King" (2006). Atlanta's T.I. provides an eighteen track release which features appearances from U.G.K., Jamie Foxx, BG, Young Jeezy, Young Buck, Young Dro, Pharell, Common, Governor and P$C. T.I. gets the album started with "The King Back", laying claim to the game. On the single "What You Know", T.I. rhymes and does his own chorus backed by some impressive production. "I'm Talkin to You" is a diss track, T.I. rhymes over some on point Just Blaze production. The albums first real standout for me and my favorite track on this one is "Live in the Sky", T.I. puts aside the braggy lyrics and delivers an excellent track collaborating with singer Jamie Foxx for the outstanding "Live In The Sky", T.I. delivers heartfelt rhymes while remembering his cousin and friends who have died, and telling his own story. T.I. invites his audience to "Ride With Me". Another standout for me is "Stand Up Guy", backed by some crazy production T.I. delivers a party anthem for the ladies. T.I. delivers another smooth upbeat cut with "GoodLife", talking about making it from the bottom up, backed by some smooth singing from Pharell. Common drops in on this cut and provides some substance. The albums closer has T.I. teaming up with his P$C family & Young Dro for "Bankhead". People wondering about my rating should know I am not a big T.I. fan I have always found him to be far too braggy for my liking. He does have his moments though, which any listener can enjoy. Calling oneself the "King" and doing an album cover that's similar to Jay-Z's black album, reminds me that he has the same type of ego, which may make him your king but not mine. If he delivers classic albums like Outkast and Scarface have, he can then lay claim to that title. 3.5.

Though I am an r'n'b girl, this is The Best Rap album i've ever heard...The REAL KING...go and buy it, u won't be dissapointed.
