Better than no Sabicas at all,
By
This review is from: King of the Flamenco Guitar (DVD)
This is one of the few available DVDs of Sabicas. Unfortunately it is a disappointment -- a cheap and inadequate production. Nevertheless, it is indispensable for lovers of Sabicas' art, which so far exceeds in technical virtuosity and impeccable musical taste that of any other flamenco guitarist. How sad that no one took the trouble to produce a comprehensive and professional film of Sabicas' playing before he died. Fortunately, there are great audio albums of Sabicas available, such as Leyenda del Siglo XX. Watch out, however. This album plays a trick on the listener: the first ten tracks show Sabicas at his finest and the sound quality is excellent; some idiot then tacked on seven additional sub-standard duet tracks obviously recorded at some other time and in some other place, and these tracks are unfortunately far below the quality of the core ten tracks.

Wonderful, but very short.,

The best flamenco guitarist ever or at least tied with Paco de Lucia and tiny handful of others. He plays with wonderful feeling, fiery performances, a real Maestro. One bad point, very short performance. The DVD is just half an hour long. They need to release a longer DVD of his genius.

Good intro to a flamenco master,

This short, unsophisticated film lets the guitar, clapping hands and tapping feet tell the story of the Flamenco Guitar master Sabicas. There is no narration, just the compelling and intricate passages of the guitar itself and some fine dancers interpreting this ancient art. The blending of cultures represented in Flamenco is easy to see in this presentation. I enjoyed it.

I was surprised at his guitar technique. But the titles-numbers that he plays, it is poor in numbers. I want much more titles that he plays. This is the reason why I gave four stars. Very useful and helpful to learn the guitar technique.

Great, classic footage of the Master. Nice dancing and singing. Dated in its presentation, but Dang Glad that we have this footage for history. If you like Sabicas, you will like this DVD.

Demasiado Corto,
This review is from: King of the Flamenco Guitar (DVD)
Me parecio demaciado corto para todo lo que ofrecía sabicas como virtuoso del flamenco. Tiene 6 cortes de los cuales 2 son baile y zapateo, ademas no tiene material adicional y la imagen podria haber sido mejor.
