5.0 out of 5 stars Another Hit from the King of the Hill Crew!, December 2, 1999
This review is from: King of the Hill (Television Series) (Audio CD)
First the show, then the book "The Boy Ain't Right," now this album. Those guys keep putting out one great product after another. What could be next, a great CD-ROM game? I can only hope.

Anyway, the Barenaked Ladies Song is great, Hank Hill singing Red Sovine's "Teddy Bear" is an instant classic, Sheryl Crow has another hit, "Mow Against the Grain" made me laugh and Willie Nelson made me cry. This album has everything for everyone and I loved it. If you're a fan of the show or if you just like great music, GET THIS ALBUM!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD!!!, August 20, 2003

I bought this because I love King of the Hill and now this has become of favorite family CD! Our 4-year-old requests it all the time.

It is a great compilation - I am very pleased! I don't own cd's by any of these artists (besides Willie Nelson) and now I've got to check them all out. Barenaked Ladies, Travis Tritt, Old 97's, Tonic, Faith Hill...all are fabulous! The Mow Against the Grain song is great for a laugh! Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great soundtrack., February 28, 2009

Well, one of the reasons that I like this so much is because I am a fan of the show. It's to bad they are not putting the seasons out at this point. But this is about the soundtrack. Below I will tell you a little about it.

The soundtrrack has some great country bands on it. Some are Travis Tritt, Brooks and Dunn, Faith Hill and Willie Nelson. They also have great bands from other genres. Some of these bands are Barenaked Ladies, Sheryl Crow, Tonic and Deana Carter. They all sound great on thisd soundtrack.

I had not heard of some of the bands on here. Like The Mavericks, Old 97s and The Refreshments. They all sound great as well. The cd reminds me of when I was a kid. My mom and dad would allways listen to country. My mom still does now, but I think the best country is the older stuff.

Besides the fact that the cd has a lot of know and unknown bands, they also have commentary by the cast before some of the songs. As well as Hank singing Teddy Bear and Luanne Platter singing One Tin Soldier. I liked the song so much that I foudn and bought the record of Red Sovine offline.

You will probably remember when the songs played on the tv show. At least I know I did. Weather you have the seaons or not, this CD is great to add to your collection. It has great music and funny commentary.

The songs are
1 - Travis Tritt with George Thorogood - Move it on Over
2 - Barenaked Ladies - Get in Line
3 - The Mavericks - Down on the Corner
4 - Sheryl Crow - Straight to the Moon
5 - Brooks and Dunn - Against the Wind
6 - Faith Hill - Piece of my Heart
7 - Trace Adkins - I know a Little
8 - The Hill Family Singers - Mow against the Grain
9 - Tonic - East Bound and Down
10 - Deana Carter - Free Fallin'
11 - Willie Nelson and Mark McGrath - Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground
12 - Hank Hill - Teddy Bear
13 - Old 97s - El Paso
14 - Luanne Platter - One Tin Soldier
15 - The Refreshments - King of the Hill theme

If you love King of the Hill, you'll adore this soundtrack. Music is mingled with sound bites that will leave you laughing. "Mow Against the Grain" is the KotH version of "Everybody's Free (to Wear Sunscreen)" and it's a scream.

4.0 out of 5 stars Woooohooooooo!, November 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: King of the Hill (Television Series) (Audio CD)
The theme song by The Refreshments is the best track on this soundtrack, although it only last for about 35 seconds, can never get enough of its jammin sound, plus The Refreshments always rock. Many cover songs are done throughout this album. Usually I don't appreciate much cover songs but many artist added on this album do fairly well. Take the opening with Travis Tritt/George Thorogood, good ole' George still shows that he's the baddest guitar player with Tritt taking over on vocals. Surpisingly, Faith Hill's cover of Janis Joplin's "Piece of My heart" takes an even higher sound and Deana Carter's rendition of Tom Petty's "Free Fallin" brings a woman's perspective into the song ex. "He's a bad boy for breaking my heart". BareNaked Ladies' single "Get In Line" brings on catchy-twangy sounds to their crazy lyrics that make you get up and shake your booty. Favorites also include Tonic's "East Bound & Down" and Old 97's "El Paso".

Ok. Texas is cool, but King of the Hill is cooler. The only reason I listened to this here CD is the fact that my Ladies are on it. "Get In Line" is a kickin song. I dig it, baby. The rest of the album is great, too. I'm just partial to my BNL. :) Keep it up, Hank.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Darn Good, November 16, 1999
This review is from: King of the Hill (Television Series) (Audio CD)
BNL's "Get in Line" is great - the best track on the album. Faith Hill's rendition of "Piece of My Heart is very bland and boring compared to Janis Joplin's. Deana Carter's vesion of "Free Fallin'" sounds an awful lot like Stevie Nicks cover of the Tom Petty song. Other highlights include: Tonic, Teddy Bear, Move it on Over, and I know a little. Brooks & Dunn's cover of "Against the Wind" is fair and Sheryl Crow's "Strait to The Moon" is pretty bad.
