Greece is a country in turmoil, divided by feuding kingdoms desiring wealth, power and revenge. When Eperitus, a young exiled soldier, comes to the aid of a group of warriors in battle, little does he know that it will be the start of an incredible adventure. For he is about to join the charismatic Odysseus, Prince of Ithaca, on a vital quest to save his homeland. Odysseus travels to Sparta to join the most famous heroes of the time in paying suit to the sensuous Helen. Armed with nothing but his wits and intelligence, he must enter a treacherous world of warfare and politics to compete for the greatest prize in Greece. But few care for the problems of an impoverished prince when war with Troy is beckoning...An epic saga set in one of the most dramatic periods of history, "King of Ithaca" is a voyage of discovery of one man's journey to become a King - and a legend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly Enjoyable, September 10, 2009
The King of Ithaca grasps your attention from the very first page and leaves you hoping for more.

It was with some trepidation I started reading though, as I expected it to be a quasi-historical description of the events leading up to the seige of Troy. Instead I found with great pleasure that the author had not done that but had written a story which seemed almost as if it could have been written a thousand years ago by the Greeks themselves.

The plot was excellent with some surprising twists - I certainly didn't see them coming and even when the plot was predictable (i.e. Odyesseus not marrying Helen as anyone with the slightest knowledge of Homer would already know before even picking up the book) the author did a magnificent job of making you wonder, Maybe? The characters were appealing particularly the loyal hero, Eperitus and they were true to Homer- e.g. Odyesseus - deceiving, Agamemnon - arrogant etc.
The book was also well-written and descriptive.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and am hoping there will be a sequel
