Reissue of this 2004 album from the Los Angeles based Rock/Rockabilly band fronted by singer and underground artist Elizabeth McGrath. Performing a dark, lean blend of blues and country sounds fortified with a punk attitude, Miss Derringer is a band led by a pair of musician-turned-artists, Liz McGrath and Morgan Slade. Rounding out the group are guitarist Mark Miller (formerly of Los Cincos), bassist Sylvain de Muizon, Julio Bell on autoharp, and drummer Mark Miller (from Skeetertruck)

Miss Derringer's debut album has a unique style. They adopt country/western elements and mix it with a classic rock feeling, showing the bandmember's instrumental capabilities and talent. The lyrics are very rich & creative; some are deep and emotional, while other songs demonstrate the band's abilities for great storytelling. Liz McGrath's beautiful voice is captivating. Overall, this album is very chill and great to add to your collection.

This album is a lot different for Liz McGrath, and if youwere a fan of her ever popular punk band Tongue, you might be taken aback. Here Ms Mcgrath sings slightly goth-y country songs (think Cowboy Junkies) about an imaginary (?) bank robber boyfirend. Great guitar work, and a real chance to hear what Liz can do vocally make this one a real fun spaghetti western.

I've been a fan of Ms. McGrath for years (since Cencor This),
so i was excited to hear about a new project she was working on. Fans of Tongue should avoid this, though. McGrath's abilities are extremely limited by the material, weak, corny lyrics, painfully simplistic music and a cheezy attempt to build the album around two imaginary characters (1920's bank robbers?). Tongue was tongue in cheek good fun, Miss Derringer is just a miss.
