More About the Author

Charlie W. Starr teaches English, Humanities, and Film at Kentucky Christian University in Eastern Kentucky where he also makes movies with his students and family. He writes a monthly column on Christians and the Arts and Media for Lookout magazine and has published five books: two biblical studies, a science-fiction novel, a children's book entitled King Lesserlight's Crown and most recently, Light: C. S. Lewis's First and Final Short Story, which publishes a never before released Lewis manuscript and explores its origins and meanings. Besides writing for print, Charlie has acted as a consultant, writer, actor and/or producer on over a dozen short film projects. His most recent film (as producer), a music video entitled "Recollection," was accepted into three national film festivals and featured internationally on the U. S. Military's Pentagon Channel.
Charlie enjoys caving, writing, reading, watching bad television, and movies of every kind. His areas of expertise as a teacher include literature, film, and all things C. S. Lewis. Charlie and his wife Becky have two mostly grown-up children, Bryan and Alathia, and a four pound family dog named Phydeaux.

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Jennifer Neyhart on July 12, 2012
Format: Paperback
If you enjoy the writings of C. S. Lewis, G. K. Chesterton, George MacDonald, etc, you will love Charlie Starr's tale. I love the poignant moments in the middle of fantastical whimsy. My favorite part of the book is reminiscent of Lewis's conversation with a fictionalized MacDonald in The Great Divorce. You'll just have to read it and be delighted! The shorter chapters and simpler vocabulary keep it accessible to children, but in a way that only enhances the enjoyment for the rest of us. (Think Narnia meets The Little Prince.)

P. S. There's a FLYING MOOSE! Now you KNOW you want to read it!
