This review is from: King Richard II (Paperback)
Although the book is well-researched, it's disorganized and the author frequently announces conclusions without supporting them. For example, he argues that some of Richard's early advisors were unfairly targeted by Richard's critics when, in fact, they were strong ministers. But he doesn't describe these strengths or why the ministers' accomplishments were ignored. The author's greatest interest appears to be in the artistic accomplishments of Richard's reign, which he suggests were stifled by Henry IV. If he concentrated on this thesis and wrote a book on that, it might be successful. But this book isn't.
