My husband and I are very pleased with our king size Monterey storage headboard in Espresso finish. The flat packed carton containing the headboard parts arrived from AAA furniture in excellent condition. The packaging was done very carefully with extra protection for the corners, and therefore, we received no damaged items. Upon unpacking and inspecting the contents of the box, we were very pleased to see that all the pre-drilled holes lined up correctly on the pieces, and there were no parts missing.

The directions for assembling the headboard were very easy to follow, but you will still need to pay attention to detail! We had a few "Aha!" moments but no major show-stoppers. You need TWO people to put this together successfully. Someone who is familiar with putting furniture together should find this a breeze. My husband and I worked as a team to put this headboard together in about an hour, with zero problems, and no arguments or swearing! It was probably the easiest bit of furniture assembly we have ever done.

The finished product looks very good in our modern / minimalist condo - we decided that we liked the headboard much better without the enclosed backing (so we left it off, on ours you can see the wall through the shelving) it looks much more clean and modern that way. If you are a more traditional style person, the backing should be attached to give a more solid wood look.

All in all, I gave this product five stars because:

(a) The finished headboard looks very nice - not cheap; it is crisp and modern
(b) It was so easy to put together
(c) The price was awesome!

I would recommend this headboard to a friend.

I just put this together last night and was impressed by the detailed instructions, which made it easy to do. When comparing to what you might buy at Ikea (where you'd get similar quality and construction) this headboard is a really, really good value. I looked around a lot, and I'd guess this piece is $150 to $200 less than other alternatives out there, plus it looks much more expensive than the Ikea stuff. Overall I'm very satisfied with the product, and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I don't know how well it will take wear and tear over time.

Solid. Easy to put together. Looks fantastic.

I am giving it a 4 star because if you buy this as a matching piece to the KINGSIZE PLATFORM STORAGE BED (ESPRESSO) the top of the bed gable will NOT sit flush against the headboard, leaving a gap of about an inch or so (There is another review on here pointing this out and how you can accidently drop things in it) I wrote an email to prepac suggesting that they offer side panels that are cut to allow fitting the top of the matching bed gable flush against it.

But that's the only downside and I thoroughly recommend this as a five star purchase if you have another king bed frame that won't have this issue.
