The year is 2025 and time travel is possible. It has even become a popular tourism industry. As one might expect, glitches can and do occur. The protagonist, a boy named Nathan, finds himself separated from his family in the year 1325 BC near the Palace of King Tutankhamun. While his family tries to locate him, Nathan meets King Tut and becomes a high-ranking offical in his court. He experiences life in ancient Egypt and even witnesses King Tut's death and burial.

King Tut's Tomb Robbers is an action-packed novel that gives readers a very real glimpse into the world of Tutankhamun. The characters are all historical figures, and the facts regarding King Tut's foot abnormality and broken leg are accurate. (These were confirmed by Dr. Zahari Hawass and a team of Egyptian scientists in the Journal of American Medical Association on February 17, 2010.) The amount of research that author, Miguel Carbonell did is commendable. Every aspect of Egyptian life around King Tut's time is covered: The food, the customs, the gods, and the politics.

King Tut's Tomb Robbers is an excellent read. It is also a good book for teaching a little history to young adult readers. The action-packed adventure will keep them engaged while they learn about some historical figures of ancient Egypt. I highly recommend this book.
