Only negative is that when you plug in an SD memory card it seats so far into the panel front that you have to use your fingernails to remove it. Also it would be nice to be able to kill the bright blue lights around the fan speed pots.

I was looking for a faceplate with USB 3.0 ports (USB 2.0 ports on older cases are not forwards-compatible with USB 3.0 internal connectors, since USB 3.0 uses more pins). As long as I was going to take up another slot, I figured I'd get some extras thrown in, like a card reader and a fan driver.

Aesthetics. There's a ~2mm gap between this plate and the DVD drive above it, but the bottom is right where it should be. The front is recessed about 2mm from the expected position as well, and the USB ports slightly further back still. Backlighting from the LCD comes through the ports, which, while adding a bit more eerie blue/white glow about the front of the case, kinda throws off the professional motif it had going for it. Glowing knobs are a nice touch, and are both smooth and responsive. The LCD is quite bright, though the reported data is rather dull (nyuk nyuk). Couldn't see any controls to switch from F to C (maybe they hard-code it for customers in non-metric countries?). Casing is plastic, not metal.

Manual. The manual for this thing is a small pamphlet with 6 pages the size of business cards. It explains that this strange black box you just purchased goes in the front of a computer case, and that you plug cables into jacks and stuff. You can view the manual on the company's product page. Not mentioned are two thermocouples to measure temperature and mobo audio connectors for the mic/headphone jacks.

Installation. There are a *lot* of cables coming out of this thing. One USB 3.0 internal 20-pin cable , one internal USB 2.

I've had about 4 fan controllers, so far the best one was my first one, which the company no longer exists. I bought two terrible ones in between, including one "touchscreen" one which was a big mistake.

This one goes back to being simple, much like my first one. I was a bit discouraged when I first opened it to find the LCD and its pull off screen-cover smushed into the device with a big fingerprint right in the middle. I figured it would be broken, or at least the screen would be crooked and never look right. But I just pushed it right back into place, and it stayed, no problem.

The buttons are top notch. They feel really sturdy and I don't foresee them becoming non responsive or getting stuck or anything like that. The SD card reader works great.

A few cons about it...

1. You can not plug the fans directly into it, even if the wires are long enough. You have to use their wire extensions because the sockets on the board are not your standard fan sockets.

2. The LEDs around the fan speed knobs are pretty bright. They may distract you from your TV or keep you awake at night. I alleviated this myself with some neoprene washers I picked up from a hardware store. Less than $1 to fix. Here is a pic of what I did. http://i.imgur.com/GRYBnvQ.jpg

3. The number 4 fan knob LED is half blue and half white because of the color bleed from the LCD screen. Not a big deal, just looks a little off.

4. Be careful with the temperature sensors, they might be a little cheap. My CPU waterblock has a slot for a sensor, so I stuck it in there. While I was trying to remove it and relocate it, the wires pulled right out of it, then I had to remove the remaining broken sensor out of the slot with tweezers.

DO NOT BUY!!
Reasons- The thing won't mount properly into 70 percent of cases due to being too short if routed through an external 3.5 port with any type of face plate or front fan shroud.
The knobs are very lightweight and plastic, not metal.
The thing probably weighs in at 2 ounces total and falls apart under any sort of light pressure ie pressure used when placing it in a 3.5 slot. (my face plate where the knobs are came off and now remains lose.
It is just a VERY cheaply made fan controller and you can save yourself a lot of time and hassle buying that slightly more expensive LCD display one I know you have been looking at :)
Also to note, this is not my first system nor fan controller. This actually makes over 75 built custom computers for me for both myself and clients.

Lots of wires to install, but all worthwhile once installed correctly. Control your fans, temperatures, and configure alarms to warn you if your system is getting too hot. Great if you overclock your processor and graphics card.

Poor quality product. Power coupling didn't fit and power connection frayed and broke while trying to connect it. HD audio port was not listenable due to high volume noise from fan controller. Memory card reader fitment is poor and you have to be very careful about not bending pins when inserting cards. USB 3 ports are functional. Case plastic is brittle and comes apart. Fan controllers function and temperature probes function. Blue color looks nice.
