Book Description

October 13, 2011
Kingdom beyond Borders is a collection of true stories, told by refugees-unwanted people living in extraordinarily difficult circumstances. Helping Hands Ministry in Athens, Greece, shines as a bright beacon on the long and treacherous refugee highway. There, the heroes of this book-like thousands of others-found help, acceptance, and friendship; but above all, they found the key that unlocked the secret to the Kingdom. These are their stories. A must read for anyone whose faith ever needs encouragement or wonders if true, holistic Christianity exists anywhere in the world. Craig L. Blomberg Distinguished Professor of New Testament Denver Seminary, Littleton, Colorado, USA It is my hope and prayer as you read these daily devotionals that your concern for modern day aliens- refugees-will go deeper and wider, reflecting God's heart of grace and love. Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe CEO/Secretary General World Evangelical Alliance

4.0 out of 5 stars Finding hope December 14, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a most interesting collection of testimonies of people who arrived in Greece with nothing but the clothes they stood up in. Their struggle to find shelter and food is written in detail. It makes one much more appreciative of what we take for granted. To see how Christian missionaries help these forgotten people and bring them hope and friendship is an amazing thing. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know what is happening in the world of refugees in an inhospitable country. The stories told here are true and certainly make you think just how difficult life can be for some people.

5.0 out of 5 stars fascinating stories May 22, 2012

I didn't want to put this book down as I followed the true-but-amazing stories of refugees who end up in Greece. Even though they arrive at Helping Hands in Athens, every story is dififerent. Each story carries its own pain and loss and ultimate joy.

I know Helena Smerck, who is a refugee herself, and she understands the heart of those who must flee from their homes. She's done a great service with this book.
