5.0 out of 5 stars Áwesome for Geronimo Fans New and Old, November 26, 2009
This review is from: The Kingdom of Fantasy (Geronimo Stilton) (Hardcover)
As I live in Australia I received this a few weeks ago so have had time to savour it with my kids (ages 5 and 9). In short...its a fantastic book!

The book stands out becasue it is larger than the normal Geronimo Stilton books, with a hardcover and stitched binding. I have friends who had never heard of Geronimo Stilton and were drawn to the book's cover and format (regardless of their age).

The story centres around Geronimo's journey across 8 different kingdoms in The Kingdom Of Fantasy to rescue Blossom The Queen of the Fairies.

On his journey, he meets witches, mermaids, dragons, giants, gnomes, pixies, fairies and a menagerie of wonderful (and sometimes scary) characters and makes a number of new friends. Each kingdom has its own unique inhabitants, along with a signature color, gemstone, metal and musical note. There is also a unique task Geronimo and his friends must perform in order to progress to the next Kingdom.

There are puzzles, secret codes to decipher, heaps of maps and fact-files on the kingdoms. This makes the book last longer than the first read.

I'm sure this book will be a treasured part of our family for years to come.
Well done Scholastic, Edizioni Piemme and Geronimo Stilton!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a fun book!, February 18, 2010
This review is from: The Kingdom of Fantasy (Geronimo Stilton) (Hardcover)
I bought this at my son's school bookfair, and both of my son's (5 & 7) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We've never read Geronimo Stilton books before, so I can't compare it to any others, but we'll certainly try some others now. The book is large, much bigger than the normal children's book, but it was an easy read. It is split up into numerous chapters, but each are only a few pages which makes it a great bedtime book because you can read a few chapters each night. The pages were colorful, the adventures were full of mild danger but not scary, and it included some factual data. It takes Geronimo through fantasy lands full of fairies, wiches, dragons, etc to fulfill a quest. Very cute!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book for 11 year old with BIG reading problems., February 1, 2010
This review is from: The Kingdom of Fantasy (Geronimo Stilton) (Hardcover)
I bought this book for my 11 year old grandson who is in 5th grade and has a very difficult time reading and thus does not attempt to read on his own. This book has had him glued to the chair and reading for an hour at a time. He loves the pictures, the puzzels and the excitment of the "bad" characters. Don't let the poor reviews discourage you from purchasing this book, I found it great for the older child who can't quite read at grade level.

My daughter got this book for Christmas and she has finished it already. She ate it up. Actually put some of her Christmas toys aside and started reading. She is 8 years old and found it fascinating. She loves the entire series.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 8 year old loved it!!, October 30, 2010
This review is from: The Kingdom of Fantasy (Geronimo Stilton) (Hardcover)
Just picked this book up a couple of days ago. My daughter couldn't put it down! Literally. This book captured her, was fun to see her giggling with excitement at the adventure! Her imagination just ran with it! My daughter has always been an avid reader, however I have never witnessed her take to a book with such passion.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a beautiful book, August 24, 2011

This review is from: The Kingdom of Fantasy (Geronimo Stilton) (Hardcover)
I have read all the Geronimo Stilton books with my son, and initially he was put off reading this one by the size. Once we opened it though, the beautiful illustrations had him hooked. The story has the typical Geronimo Stilton themes of loyalty, friendship, honesty, and perseverance. It is a wonderful story in a beautifully published edition and will be treasured in my household for many years.

Be warned though, the Kingdom of Fantasy books (soon to be three in the series) are quite different in setting to the rest of the Geronimo Stilton books - this one reminded me in the best way of the Faraway Tree and Wishing Chair books by Enid Blyton. If you have a problem with Enid Blyton or with fantasy then this book may not be for you. Have a look at the rather strange one-star review by "dream factory" for someone who doesn't approve.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great and challenging read!, June 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Kingdom of Fantasy (Geronimo Stilton) (Hardcover)
My seven-year old loves Geronimo Stilton books. This book, The Kingdom of Fantasy, is not only fun, with its colorfully characteristic emphasis on different words on the page, but it's educational, teaching children (and adults) facts related to different myths and folklore that they might not get in elementary school. She is now reading a chapter of the book that is causing her to work her brain to unscramble words (or better yet, to read words backwards - which helps brain development). When she figured out (on her own) that the words were written backwards and figured the words out, she cracked up! She is enjoying this book so much, and so am I! I highly, highly recommend this book!

(UPDATED REVIEW: This was written by the seven-year old I referred to in my review above) "I REALLY LOVE GERONIMO STILTON BOOKS, they are cool! I think you should try it".

I gave it to my 8 year old son and he has been totally hooked! The story is very interesting and the legends on the side are very enriching! It makes them think as well, as sometimes they speak "pixie", everything backwords. Beautiful illustrations. A great book indeed!
