5.0 out of 5 stars Longtime Friend, March 8, 2006
This review is from: The Kingdom of Heart: A Pet Loss Journal (Spiral-bound)
I bought this journal and three self-help books for my husband just before we put down my husband's dog, Granger of 16+ years. My spouse and Granger were true best friends. Me and the other dogs came later in life. So Granger was a large part. This journal is the only book that I bought that he liked and that has helped him in the grieving process. This book helped when nothing else could. So I recommend it highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Healing and Uplifting, January 18, 2009
This review is from: The Kingdom of Heart: A Pet Loss Journal (Spiral-bound)
I lost my dog of 14 years this Christmas and it has been the hardest loss I have ever had to deal with. I needed an outlet because people did not understand the pain that I was experiencing. This pet loss journal has helped me to express my feelings. If you do not know how to write in a journal, she will guide you and even help you with what to say because sometimes we hurt so badly that we don't know how to put into words what we're feeling. I really recommend this to anyone who has lost any kind of pet that was dear to them. This journal is great therapy.

When I lost my dog, I really felt like no one would understand. It was so hard to want to pick up and move on, but this book has helped me more than words can really say. It not only provides some heartfelt reading, but also gives ample space to write, from the heart, all the memories about your pet. It has helped me start to heal. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has gone through such a profound, deep loss as losing a furry best friend! I wish I could meet the author and thank her in person for helping me pay tribute to my best friend!

This book was a God-send. I didn't know how I was going to make it through after I had to put my dear cat, Squeek, to sleep. We had been together for almost 20 years and it's now been 38 days since her passing. The Kingdom of Heart allowed me to write all my feelings down and made the walk through the grief process a little easier. The book has many tips on how to handle your grief; how to explain to your children what has happened; how to express your feelings of grief and loss; how to celebrate your animal friend's life. The final chapter is about moving forward and remembering your animal friend with love. There are many blank pages to write your feelings down, to place pictures or to draw on. I will treasure this journal as a tribute to my dear furkid, and highly recommend it's purchase for anyone facing the heart wrenching grief of saying a final goodbye to their animal friend.

When I lost Samantha my 16 year old Maine Coon Cat I was devastated.
It all happened so quickly, 1 day she was fine, the next day she's stricken and I rushed her to the vet where they discover a belly full on cancer.
The only merciful thing to do was to not let her suffer further, she died in my arms.
This was among the worst losses of my life, she'd been my best friend and constant companion for 15 1/2.
I sought help on the internet and found a grieving pet owner forums where they referred to this journal.
There's a place where you can write a letter to your beloved pet and I did, I told her how much I loved her and would always love her and how I cherished the time we spent together.
There's also a place where you write a letter to yourself from your pet and this helped me greatly.
I gave voice to my pet and she told me it wasn't my fault that she died, it was just her time, she thanked me for all the kindness and care I'd given her.
She said I was a good Papa, the best and someday we'd be together once more.
