5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding, breathtaking, and just plain wonderful.
Although met with scrutiny, KINGDOM HEARTS turned out to be easily one of the best games available for the PS2, not to mention one of the most heartfelt. Obviously no expense or effort was spared in this tremendous labour of love, a fact which is brought to light even stronger by this impressive double-CD set.

Although it has been available in Japan for quite some time...

3.0 out of 5 stars My review of Kingdom Hearts soundtrack
I partly bought this because of the Simple and Clean songs. I loved them in the game and had to have them. Unfortunatley, when they finally arrived, I was highly disappointed. These songs only come in Japanese versions! No English! But why did Amazon make the Simple and Clean samples in English? I have no idea. But I really did want to hear these songs in English...

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Although it has been available in Japan for quite some time now (I got mine in September of 2002), it's just now making its debut on Amazon.com and I can't begin to recommend it enough.

Just one listen to a few seconds of the music stripped away from its accompanying game will impress anyone who aren't even enchanted by games: sweeping through a huge panorama of moods from the gentle wistfulness of the opening "Dearly Beloved" to the motion picture-style epic quality of the main theme that moves you with all the grace and dramatic sweep of a traditional Hollywood score, the KINGDOM HEARTS soundtracks swells with effortless varity offering both the gentle and the complex. It even has a pop song written specifically for it (translated "Simple and Clean"). And yes, KH fans, it does have every piece of music in the game. And even more so: Disc 2 sports the bonus cuts "Having a Wild Time (Previous Version)" and "Destati".

Because the game itself is so moody, the musical variety here is guaranteed to never be dull. You get traditional Disney ("Mickey Mouse March"... yes, THAT Mickey Mouse March) and the more recent ("Under The Sea", "This is Halloween") and new touch-ups of Disney faves created for perfect mood and atompshere as opposed to being merely a simple carbon copy of the original ("Winnie The Pooh") mixed with the absolutely spellbinding new compositions: tracks such as "The End of The World" inspire genuine awe with their delicate arrangements and choir vocalizations, and both "Hollow Bastion" and its accompanying battle track "Scherzo di notte" use orchestration to its fullest extention with feelings of fear, drama and desperation.

This huge set is worth every penny. If you enjoy the game, you MUST get this, no excuses. Also, if you happen to be merely a longtime Disney admirer who hasn't played the game yet (as I was when I first heard this one) then by all means check it out anyway! You will love every moment of it, I promise you. Well, maybe not the "Mickey Mouse March" or "Under The Sea" since everyone has gotten so sick of hearing those ones so darn much, but everything else.

So why are you still sitting there merely reading this? Don't you understand? You've got to check this one out. It OWNS you! ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Kingdom Hearts, A Soundtrack for the Heart!, July 24, 2003
By
This review is from: Kingdom Hearts (Audio CD)
I frist bought the Kingdom Hearts game for my little sister. I thought it was a kids game.I played it once and totally fell in love with it!After completing the game I noticed myself humming tunes from the back ground music of the game.My sister also loved the Simple and Clean songs. So I had to get the soundtrack. Thanks to Amazon.com I got the Kingdom Hearts Soundtrack "simple and clean".The soundtrack had every song of the game on the spectacular 2 disc set.I was hoping for more art in the cd cover but its cool.Though I was kind of disappointed when I noticed that there are two of my personal favorite songs missing from the Soundtrack. It didn't have the background music to the part when your fighting the Demon on Bald Mountain and the BGM from when your fighting Sephiroth which is an awesome score. But overall it is worth it.Stunning music for a stunning game! Where can you go wrong!

KINGDOM HEARTS is a great video game, but what to do after you've beaten the game, but you still want to think about the joy that playing the game brought you? Listen to the soundtrack of course. All the music (and I mean all) that is in the game is found on this two-disc set. The soundtrack is worth buying just to hear the beautiful "Simple and Clean". I am a bit disappointed that a month after I bought the imported version, the American version became available. However, that now means you can get all the music from this great game on one album, instead of having to get "Colors" like I did. This is a soundtrack that any KINGDOM HEARTS fan will love.

Dude I totally recomend this CD if you have played the Kingdom Hearts Game! It has every song from the game! If you want to preview the some of the songs, full length, go to Rpgdreamer [...](They have pictures from the game too if your interested) Some of the songs to preview there are like "Dearly Beloved" or "Night of Fate" "Halloween Town" "Wonderland" "Hand in Hand" and "Kairi".
The great thing about this CD is that the music is right from the game. I promise, if you're a Kingdom Hearts fan then you'll love this CD! It's AWESOME!
There are 76 songs total, and two of them are bounus tracks. This Cd comes with Two Cd's actually. The songs are about a minute to three minutes long...and are very enjoyable to listen too! I hope this review was helpful to you! and dude, it's just awesome!
(PErsonally , my favorite song is Hikari-Planit B remix, it's the opening song of the game!!!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely superb!, April 19, 2003

I got the Japanese import of this cd, the only difference being the different opening themes, but I still say that if you're a fan of Kingdom Hearts this soundtrack is a must buy! The product features all of the background music from the game and comes with two discs - the first having 41 tracks and the second having 33, not to mention 2 bonus tracks! Although some of the songs are relatively short and others you might not recall from game play (ie: No Time To Think) they are all quite beautiful and the range of emotions expressed in the music varies from sugary happiness to a deep sorrow. Plus, we can't forget Utada Hikaru's gorgeous vocals in the opening song Simple and Clean (or Hikari if you have the Japanese import like me)! I must recommend this set for all Kh fans and everyone out there who appreciates a good soundtrack! ^_~

4.0 out of 5 stars Magical Music For A Magical Game!, March 29, 2003
By
Raine (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kingdom Hearts (Audio CD)
I own many video game soundtracks, including ones from Final Fantasy games, Metal Gear Solid, and so on, and this is just as good! After playing "Kingdom Hearts" I thought this was a must have, so I ordered it. I have listened to every track and I am amazed. However I did not give this cd 5 stars for a couple of reasons.

1. I love all of the songs (except for 1 or 2, that I can only listen to every-once-in-a-while), but some of the songs work better when your playing the game. I am not sure why I feel that way, but song's such as "Dive into the Heart", "Welcome to Wonderland" and "A Day in Agrabah" are like that.

2. The Gummi ship songs aren't the best, and although some of the version's of the song are better, the first two are not that great.

3. Most of the song's are really short, and some don't even repeat! Which mean's that by the time you get into a song, the next one starts.

Overall this soundtrack is easy to listen to, with many lite hearted songs, dark songs, and of course the wonderful "Simple and Clean" (or "Hikari"), performed by Utada Hikaru. It will bring back memories of the game, and also remind you of some of your favorite Disney tunes (Think- "Winne the Pooh"). For all fans of the game, or just fans of game soundtracks, this is a must have, 2 cd's and over 2 hours of magical music.

5.0 out of 5 stars For KH Fans+Fanatics, March 24, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Kingdom Hearts (Audio CD)
Anyone who is even slightly addicted to Kingdom Hearts will absolutely love this CD. You might feel a little hazy about buying it, seeing as most of the music is instrumental(save Simple and Clean's two versions - regular and remixed). But it is definitely an awesome buy! The second CD, I have to say, is a tad better, because the intense music from the game's final moments can be heard there. But CD 1 is definitely great as well, because it has the PLANITb Remix of Simple and Clean, Kingdom Hearts:Orchestra Instrumental, and Dearly Beloved, plus all the other music. It has EVERY song that is in the game; no song is left out. Even some short songs are displayed, like the 16 second song "Miracle". The CD is two disks with 76 songs, which runs for close to 2 1/2 hours. It is definitely worth the money, so any KH fan would love to own these CD's!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this without knowing what the game is., December 24, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Kingdom Hearts (Audio CD)
One word.W-O-W. Kingdom Hearts is an awesome game and if you are a total fan like I am, buy this CD.Amazon has a good price set up and it's definetly worth it. The orcestral music is an enlightment because you can have some INTENSE scences that deserve INTENSE music. And you have some that make you feel warm inside.(well, that's for me, at least) The songs are stretched out so you can have an increased song time. Of course, some are very short, but that's how they were produced and you can always rewind that track. You can almost know where the music setting is without knowing where they are set by reading the booklet. In Traverse Town you can feel the calmness of a night city, while in End Of The World, you feel an ominous force that seems to have no hope to it whatsoever. This is a very good CD and I recomend that you buy it if you know what this is. Some may have a quaint lull to them, while others will blow you away. Plus, you may have the game, but somesongs you can only hear once. With this CD, you can listen to them anytime you want. To the blue ocean, to the vast emtiness of space, the Kingdom Hearts CD is a recomendment for people who like it and can be a great gift for anyone.(Beleive me, tat's how I got it. :) )
