This game is a great game! With tons of replay value! I was checking out this game on Toysrus.com, and i saw that if you buy it from them, you get a free code... well thats dumb, since you can get the codes for free...

Just type in these codes to get your free downloads:

3.0 out of 5 stars Eh
I'm surprised by all of the great reviews for this game. It does have nice graphics, but I found it lacking in many ways. I found the fighting to be boring and very repetitive. Yes I could come up with new combos, but for the most part it was button mashing against the same enemies over and over until the stage ending boss. The dialog cut scenes were aggravating...

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece of RPG on PSP, November 21, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Kingdom of Paradise (Video Game)
The graphic is fine, sharp 3D and most backgrounds are brillant
and bright. The music is nice, it must be highlighted that
most of key dialgoues are dubbed in clear, loud sound, not
only in text for tired reading.

The plot is straighforward, the difficulty is just all right.
you will not get frustrated, but only not get boring. As you
are playing, the vivid graphic and sound is really a charming
enjoyment.

The game is deep enough for you to improve your skills, setup
your own combe styles of sword-slash and build up 'chi' spells
for powerful casting.
.......
Anyway, this should be the BEST RPG for psp so far !!!!

There is no way to skip it, so if you die right after one, you have to go back and watch it all over again. This one just wasn't fun for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent adventure+RPG, free-style swordplay combo is simply cool!, December 25, 2005

I got the game (official Chinese version)
I have no problem with English ver, but I'd prefer Chinese ver because the oriental background
you may get bored for first couple of hours until you get some new sword skill roll and water elemental "xi"
the swordplay is simply fantastic, once you get "freestyle" combo scroll, you can put your favorite swordplay option (no matter elemental) to make a unique combo
also, you need to learn about advantage and disadvantage of elemental properties (metal, vegetation, water, fire, earth)
this Action/Advanture is the best one I ever played, why I give 4 stars? because the d-pad problem on PSP itself, which limits your swordplay control, you need to use analog pad a lot to make the control easier
as I said, get Chinese version if you know how to read (better translation)

5.0 out of 5 stars Kingdom of Paradise...Fun!, April 13, 2006

Kingdom of Paradise is a real fun RPG game. The 3d graphics are fine, actual talking in the game (for those who hate reading)!, a lot of fighting styles to choose from and u can even create ur own fighting styles! What is also awesome is that it has these 'magic spells' called Chi Arts (there are 6 types and each can reach lv3). Whats even more awesome is that once you completed the game, u can restart the game with all your stuff and u get a secret fighting style and with stronger monsters (but u start out as lv1 so that mite be some problems [e.g. die faster at lv1]) The only problems i think this game has is that there may be too many cut scenes AND that tasks can get real confusing (as in, at times, they dont give u specific instructions.) so you can be seeing urself roaming for bout half an hour til u get it. I had to use a walkthrough for the 3/4 part of the game. But other than that, its still fun and sometimes addicting! which is great!

4.0 out of 5 stars Mumm UMMM GOOD!, September 16, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Kingdom of Paradise (Video Game)
It goes without saying but I am going to say it anyways. SONY games are definaly among the best for SONG consoles. This game is no exception.
It is basically an free-style-combat-RPG game with a sophisticated but easy to learn combat system. During your missions you kill the monstors who drop Kenpu(combat moves) which you use to fill up your Bugei(combos) every Kenpu is different and there are like hundreds and every Bugei is likewise insteristing. Do not get frightered Kenpu are mostly for specific Bugeis' so there are no puzzles involved. There is also your Chi which is like magic, you can charge it up during or before battles and then release it damaging all surrounding enemies which makes the game easier but you will having so much fun chopping and slicing that you might hardly use it. Also, like the bugei scrolls there are freestyle Bugei scrolls which you can fill with ANY KENPU making a compilation of custom moves that you like the best.
Graphics are stunning. Thought he camera control is fixed on the front so you will not be doing any sight-seeing which is disappointing.
Music is proper and varied.
Voice acting and Character animation are well done, which is not surprising since all sony games are known to give attention to every singly detail.
Story is well written and it unfolds properly. There are absolutely no delays or intervals between the missions, the game will constantly keep moving, one quest after another.
In conclusion the game is worth EVERY SINGLE DIME and if you have a PSP it is a MUST BUY.

This game is very good. The map aint easy to read but the graphics are super. The story is very interesting. Its like an old china or japan game. The arw tons of very cool and fast moves.Sometimes it gets hard like the part when you have to deliver a note to the suzaku because some guards wont let you,but you'll get through eventually.I think its worth the money cause there are alot of effects that look like real life.
Difficulty:Medium
Graphics:Awesome
Story:Interesting
Gameplay:Great
All that makes this game great,so just buy it if you want an action packed RPG.

5.0 out of 5 stars An intriguing game, even years later from release., January 2, 2012

So, I must say, for being a now dated game in technological/video game history , I am very impressed. I'll just cut to the chase and say a few things about it. I am almost 14 hours into the game just to give you a little reference. No plot Spoilers, I promise.

I was looking for a new RPG to play on my PSP when I stumbled on this. With a multitude of great reviews i purchased it. But when I got it I started it and I was like, "did I just get suckered in to another pathetic rpg?" Glad I was wrong.

Story:
Story is the one thing for me that can save even the worst gameplay. The game does start very slow but by about 2 or 3 hours things begin to pick up. The story is nothing particularly new. But I do find myself wanting to know more and more...and if I miss a cutscene, it's like a major blow to me (which happened once haha). Also, the characters are very interesting and memorable. I find myself feeling sympathy, anger, wanting to argue with some, or lifting up another in encouragement. However, this game really makes no attempts to intentionally make "plot twists". Villains are made known from the get go, heroes are obvious, etc. The true beauty in here is they're wonderful way of developing each of the characters and helping you get to know them. The world is really amazing and a mysterious place to explore.

Graphics & sound:
They were definitely good for the times, but not so much now. But, even so the u can see its age, it's still a very beautiful world with beautiful music. The sounds are fine (a sword clang is a sword clang to me in any game). The character renders are also very beautiful and smooth. Haven't had any real problems with it at all. If anything, I was amazed.

Gameplay:
A)First off, this is a hack-n-slash RPG. Every now and then (ok...fairly often) you get to fight alongside your friends. friendly AI is good but not overpowered. In fact you, learn to rely on each other...and the moments your friends are taken out, you quickly miss them and feel so alone...sometimes even having to retreat regrettable.

B) Also, yes there are towns and shopping. For me, if I play an RPG, in most games I want to be able to explore towns and talk to people. So just in case anyone was concerned about that, yes, there are quite a few towns and people to talk to. You couldn't really tell that from the trailer and most of the gameplay videos on youtube.

C) Difficulty - I feel it is about right, it is difficult enough that you need to think your way through a situation, but not so much that you just as soon give up (though there are moments where you can come close to that feeling...but you got a world to save, so don't give up).

D) Combos - This is where it really shines (outside of the story). This game has no real or major in-game puzzles, but they make up for that in the combo system. As you progress through the game, you receive things called Bugei Scrolls (formula for attacks) & Kenpu forms (specific individual attacks that make up Bugei Scroll formulas). Throughout the game, you can receive two kinds of Bugei Scrolls. One is the specific fighting formula based off of each culture's style that you need to fill in with the proper kenpu forms. The 2nd is the most fun...they are "Free style" scrolls and you can combine any number of attacks and cultural styles into them. And the more you use them, the more Kenpu forms you can put. In fact, I have made multiple free style combos specific for many different situations from open area mob fights, to more linear bridge fights, to pure melee, to the "if-I'm-low-on-health-and-need-to-fight-my-way-out-of-a-huge-mob-to-safety" moment (I'm really not joking about that one...with this one, I fly everywhere). You can really mimic the old kung fu movies you've watched. And not all Kenpu are equal, some are stronger but slower, some fast and rapid, others area of effect, other more focused, and varying degrees and possible usages of each.

E) Chi Arts- This is basically the magic of the game. You can throw your sword around and if you wish ignite it with one of the 5 elements. Throwing the sword as an unofficial part of a combo without using the Chi Arts is also a fun and smart tactic cuz u can damage/freeze targets that way, and as it flies back to you it'll hurt other enemies on the way back.

F) In addition to this, you can even use the enemies on weapons (explosives, arrows, clubs, swords) against them or other enemies. Or even anger the wild livestock and tricking it into attacking your opponents (a risky move...but very fun and has saved my life many times when you know how).

G) the game begins a little linear, but slowly opens up...and is very very open in both places to traverse and in combat.

All in all, this has been a truly enjoyable game and I'm glad to have gotten it. Is it a button masher. In the beginning it is when the enemies are easy, but as you go on, what I'm finding is that playing smart and using timing to your advantage is very "economical" and often necessary and the only way to win. Above all, it's the huge amount of combat options that makes this game really shine. You literally can shape the warrior into your style of combat. It's definitely worth a shot at least. You can definitely live your Kung Fu dream right here.

It was a solid game from start to finish and it's a shame this type of game hasn't popped up again. Probably due to Sony doing a "bang up" job on selling it with that terrrible cover and lousy advertisment.

You won't regret this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars crisis core, eat your heart out!!!, April 9, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Kingdom of Paradise (Video Game)
Kingdom of Paradise 2(Tenchi no Mon 2: Busouden looks great, no awesome(check it out on youtube.com). It may be in Chinese language, but as long as it follows the same formula as Kingdom of Paradise 1, I will be able to play it.

Another great RPG you may be interested in is Silverfall for the PSP. It is kinD of like Diablo in the game play.

**************************************************************************

I spent money for Crisis Core: FFVII. And I have played and beaten it at 5 to 10 times. I have not touched it in about 3 or 5 months. Why? Kingdom of Paradise has done for me what Crisis Core failed to do.

Crisis Core is beautiful, has the FFVII name, etc. But it did not hold my attention. Square Soft just milked it enough to get a big name on their system, rushed it, did not care, and used the fans to save face.

WHY DID THEY NOT JUST RELEASE CHRONO TRIGGER or CHRONO CROSS FOR THE PSP?????

Kingdom of Paradise, for me, has more of what Crisis Core was SUPPOSED to have in it:
1. Better graphics
2. Better play control
3. Better action
4. Better story
5. Better character interaction
6. Better areas (Crisis Core had a lot of big areas with no use. wasted.)
7. Better cut scenes(Crisis Core's CG cut scenes were TOO GOOD).
8. Better camera angles(no comment on Crisis Core's camera angles-A WHOLE TO BE DESIRED).

You do not have to drown an rpg with CG scenes to make it great. Kingdom of paradise is proof of this. The developers took their time AND DID IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME--YOU LISTENING SQUARESOFT?????

Kingdom of Paradise is a product of a great developing team for the PSP.
Kingdom of Paradise puts Crisis Core to shame and for me is the best action RPG on the PSP to date.
