Book Description

August 1, 1999
Named for Edgar Allen Poe's doomed heroine, Annabelle Lee struggles to escape a similar fate after an ebony-clad intruder attacked her and left her for dead in New York City. She moves to a charming Long Island town where she meets Brennan O'Rourke, a best-selling horror novelist who sports a black cape as a publicity prop which reminds Annabelle of her brutal experience.

Shaken by their first encounter, Annabelle soon sees past Brennan's persona to the lonely man within. Haunted by a secret of his own, Brennan reaches out to protect Annabelle, even though the connection threatens to destroy the carefully controlled existence he has constructed for himself.

When their worlds collide, Annabelle and Brennan find their fates inevitably entwined in the Kingdom By The Sea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kingdom by the Sea, May 20, 2000

A wonderfully written romance, with just the right touch of gothic suspense. The characters kept me turning the pages for more, until the dramatic ending. And yes, there are references to Poe's work, which blends beautifully into the story.

Annabelle Lee has had a bad year. She was attacked and beaten by a mysterious, winged intruder, and no one believes her description of the attacker. She meets Brennan O'Rourke, a horror writer like her father, Stuart Lee who can't get Annabelle off his mind takes late night walks by her house to make sure she's all right. There is a tangible sense of menace in this vividly told tale. The eccentric, troubled characters and colorful descriptions of internal and external events make this one to read on a dark and stormy night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome gothic!, January 8, 2002

This review is from: Kingdom By The Sea (CD-ROM)
Annabelle Lee was the daughter of the famous horror writer Stuart Lee. Instead of beginning her own career, she stayed with her father to help with the research and editing of his novels. A year after Stuart Lee's death, a villain broke Annabelle's window and beat her almost to death!

With the help of her psychologist, Annabelle took the final step to recovery. She began her life anew in Babylon, Long Island. She opened a bookshop filled with mysteries and horrors. There she met the moody and dark horror author named Brennan O'Rourke. The two were perfect for each other. Brennan, however, had problems in his past to deal with. His fascination for Annabelle had him involving himself in her current problems.

Someone was out to harm Annabelle. Everyone knew that old Mrs. McNaught had fallen down the stairs to her death and one son hanged himself in the basement of what is now Annabelle's house. But someone was using the knowledge to terrify Annabelle, before he kills her!

***** A dark and sumptuous tale, by Stephanie Marie Wilson, for us gothic lovers! This author has a new fan in me! Fascination book that will haunt you for a long time! *****
