An adult's review,

On the back of the book it says it is supposed to be for teenagers. I enjoy a lot of 'young adult' fiction, so bought this book. Frankly, it's written more for pre-teens, maybe 8- to 12-year-olds. The language and writing is very simplistic for teenagers. I do think a pre-teen could really enjoy it, though.
In my reviews of the first two books, I complained about how the author didn't do a good job making this book a true allegory, which he clearly wanted it to be. This book, however, is very good in both the writing and in the allegory. I think it helped that he let the allegory be looser (less 'this is this event!!') and each chacter represent one group of people or one person instead of changing what the character represents throughout the story. I would recommend this book to young adults and am going to give this book to my church's "Knights of the Cross" 4th and 5th grader Sunday school program as a prize gift.

A book you will benefit from reading!,
By Armchair Interviews (Minneapolis, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kingdom's Edge (Kingdom, Book 3) (Paperback)
Kingdom's Edge is the third book in the Kingdom's Series (Kingdom's Dawn and Kingdom's Hope being I and II). Leinad (Moses) has crossed the sea to be with the King (our Lord) and has left his stories with Cedric. Cedric of Chessington is not too sure if the stories are to be believed, but there is "something" about them that rings true.
The Kingdom is going through some very tough times. The Noble Knights have lost their path--and now they are out for themselves rather than for the people and the King. Through the years they have stopped following the Code (Commandments) and become more interested in their own power over the people. In the midst of these hard times, the Prince arrives. His coming was foretold by Leinad. He gathers believers around him and trains his Knights (the Apostles) to fight the Dark Knight (Satan/evil) who with his Shadow Knights are coming to take over the Kingdom. Kingdom's Edge tells the story of the Prince's life, His death and then His rising again. Even if the reader does not catch all the symbolism that the author intends, this book is very inspirational. It gives the reader a sense of hope and reminds us, in a contemporary story, the importance of faith. Kingdom's Edge (as well as the other books in the Kingdom series), should be put on everyone's reading list. Armchair Interviews says: Anyone who reads it will benefit in some way.

I want to say how much I appreciate the timely shipment of the book.
It arrived within a week of the time I ordered it in very good shape. I volunteer at a Christian lending library & this book was the only one missing from the set, so now our readers will be able to read the series through without wondering what happened. I would definitely use this seller again, GREAT JOB! Sincerely, Penni Barnes zbarnesmom@yahoo.com

Kingdom's Edge is Chuck Black's third of the Kingdom series and what a series! Black continues the age-old fight between good and evil set amidst knights and sword fights of the midieval times. Cedric discovers that his poverty is no deterrent to a stranger who is Master of the Sword when he comes to the city to train him in sword fighting.
Once again, Black intertwines action with a purpose - to defeat evil and Cedric must rely on the training he received from the Master if he is going to survive. This is a story of faith and courage and gives the incentive to strive for strong faith in one's own life. Black's use of the Biblical accounts of good vs evil comes to life in another must-read book by Chuck Black. Another real page-turner! Rita Kroon, author of "Letters from the Past" and "You Have Cancer."

My husband and I have enjoyed the series. These are good Christian books for the car ride. They are really good for guys who aren't in the Faith yet, because the bible messages are hidden in the story. I have non-believers who are enjoying the series as I pass them along.

Review written by 16 year old boy:
Kingdom's Edge is a non-stop, action packed story about a young man named Cedric of Chessington. Cedric's life has been the same ever since he can remember; poverty, poverty, and more poverty; but when a stranger comes to town and openly defies the oppressive authority, Cedric knows life is about to change. The stranger chooses men willing to fight for what is right and true and begins to train them in the way of the sword and of the King. As they train they see that there is something out there a lot worse than oppressive authority. It's called the "Dark Knight" and he will stop at nothing to completely annihilate the Prince and all that join him. The Stranger shows Cedric life in a kaleidoscope of new lights, but is all they worked for over when the oppressive authorities catch and kill this Stranger? Kingdom's Edge is an amazing allegory of the Gospel; it shows Christ, the Stranger, coming and training His disciples to spread the good news and train others in His word, which is the sword, Simeon Peter is Cedric one of the closest twelve knights to the Stranger, and the oppressive authorities are the Pharisees. Over all this book is a captivating adventure that is appropriate for all ages, it is funny, tense, and gripping and is definitely a keeper. I only use 5 stars on books I buy for my permanent library. This book is part of my "all ages" library. Would I/Did I buy it? Yes Would I read it again? Yes Would I recommend it to friends? Yes This is a review of the AUDIOBOOK version of the story

"The Kingdom Series" is an extraordinary collection of books that vibrantly relate the story of God and His Son's love for all humanity. Chuck Black is a gifted author who presents the marvelous Gospel in a compelling manner that appeals to both children and adults alike. I am 26, and even though these novels are purported to be for children, they still have the power to inspire me. Some readers of fantasy may want more complex stories, but Black's writing is simple enough that his message can be understood by all.
In the third installment of the series, Cedric, a peasant in the city of Chesington in the Kingdom of Arrethtrae, is about to embark upon the most perelous journey imaginable. Arrethtrae is ruled by "The Noble Knights," leaders who have sworn to uphold "The King" and his "Code." However, "The Noble Knights" have been poisoned by their own lust for power, and thus Arrethtrae suffers from oppression and sorrow. Into the midst of this turmoil, a mysterious stranger, (a peasant in appearance but more than he seems), comes forth. The stranger claims to be "The Son of the King." He is an expert swordsman, and he offers freedom to Arrethtrae's people. Cedric is chosen to become a knight in the stranger's service along with other unlikely men. The men are trained in preparation for a battle against "The Dark Knight Lucius," and his followers. What results is a danger-filled quest where freedom must come at a terrible price. Chuck Black recreats the events of Jesus' life, and retells the story of the formation of the Church. He is particularly gifted at illustrating the truth of spiritual warfare. Once again, the audio addition of this book is narrated by Andrew Turley and Dawn Marshall. These British narrators infuse life into the excellent novel. You will be moved, and you will be inspired to proclaim Christ's love to others. Happy reading, and God bless.

love the book,
This review is from: Kingdom's Edge (Kingdom, Book 3) (Paperback)
I have only read three out of the six in the series. And I have enjoyed this series. Kingdom Series is great how Chuck Black use the The Bible to tie in his story of knights and the great battles that they have in that time. At the end of the books there are discussion question and answers. That help show you what part of the Bible he uses to tell the story. I have never read a book cover to cover before, I'm 36 and have a hard time putting this series down.
