Product Description

From the Manufacturer

    Includes King's Bounty: The Legend, King's Bounty: Armored Princess and its expansion King's Bounty: Crossworlds

    King's Bounty: The Legend

    Kings Bounty: The Legend is an adventure game with tactical turn-based battles and role-playing elements. In a fairy tale fantasy world of fearless knights, evil mages, wise kings and beautiful princesses the player controls a hero. Leading their character through the game world, exploring it, commanding armies in battle and accomplishing various quests can mean great reward or huge defeats.

    Gameplay is divided into two major sections: adventure mode and battle mode. While playing in adventure mode the gamer controls their character in real-time. With several classes available at the start of a new game, the player moves through the adventure map seeking various treasures, fighting monsters and accomplishing quests tasked to him by the local stewards. Once in battle mode the gamer assumes the role of a war chief, leading his troops in tactical turn-based combat. Battles take place on land or sea, in dungeons or castles or even in some items! The hero himself doesn't participate in the combat, but can assist his troops by casting spells or summoning different creatures.

    • Classic real-time (adventure) meets turn-based (battles) gameplay
    • Rich fantasy setting, storyline with a lot of twists and an unexpected ending
    • Three types of characters to choose from – Warrior, Paladin and Mage. Each of them with unique characteristics and abilities
    • Huge game world with dozens locations and battlefields - both on the surface and in the dungeons
    • The game world isn't static - enemies don't just sit and wait for the hero to arrive, they pursue their own aims and try to get into the player's way

    King's Bounty: Armored Princess

    King's Bounty: Armored Princess is a sequel to the critically acclaimed King's Bounty: The Legend. Players will take on the role of Princess Amelie who travels around the world of Teana and searches for the renowned knight, and her mentor, Bill Gilbert. This new world of King's Bounty: Armored Princess is full of mysteries and dangers. The new character, the Princess, will encounter horrible creatures, huge monstrous bosses and a new race, the bloodthirsty Lizards. As in the multi-award winning game on which this sequel is based, the player has many options to resist these new enemies. Various new skills and characteristics of Amelie as well as her chance to fly will help her overcome the hordes attacking the kingdom.

    The Princess is accompanied by a Pet Dragon, at the very beginning small and amusing, but its abilities develop steadily until it becomes an incredible ally. He will do his best to protect the Princess during the battles, starting with easy blows and treasure hunting and finishing with battle rage and volcano summoning.

    • A new female character to play – Princess Amelie
    • Pet Dragon which becomes more powerful as the player does
    • New Lizard race
    • Brand new spells and new Adventure Magic spell for game map
    • New unique bosses: Driller, Gremlion, Archdemon Baal and many others

    King's Bounty: Crossworlds

    New campaign - Arena Champion
    Mercenary Arthur is hired by some Lew Clissan, and finds himself in the Litan world. According to his contract he has to fight against dreadful creatures at the Arena of the Thousand Emperors to become a champion.

    • battles with bosses in the gladiator tournament;
    • unique enemy mercenary heroes;
    • 8 different guilds with specific relations;
    • 11 companions.
    New campaign - Defender of Crown
    Having returned from Teana, Princess Amelie has to pass her final exam on the path to the honorable title of the Defender of the Crown of Darion! She will be confronted by challenges, where it's not rude force that helps, but thoughtful tactics, since every new battle is a real enigma.
    • battles at unique tactic arenas;
    • random selection of enemies and allies in each new game.
    Orc Path, large-scale expansion of the game world The Orcs set forth on a warpath, and hordes of green-skin warriors are prowling about the entire Teana seeking the Ancient Orc God, but not all chieftains are willing to see the almighty Agro God back on the throne, and they are asking humans to help...
    • 9 creatures;
    • 35 items, new item sets and assembled artifacts;
    • 50 new abilities and skills for the creatures;
    • 13 new spells;
    • mysterious Sage's Tower, a puzzle of mage, who learnt immortality;
    • chain of Military Academies allowing to upgrade creatures;
    • new quests;
    • Adrenalin, a unique ability of the Orcs;
    • and so much more...

4.0 out of 5 stars Some Info about the Downloaded Version December 28, 2010

The game is great and you can read detailed reviews on the retail version product page. This download creates two separate game folders and icons for each of the games. The original game, "King's Bounty: The Legend" does not require activation. The more recent "King's Bounty: Armored Princess" and its expansion "King's Bounty: Crossworlds" (bundled in the same interface) does require activation and it allows 3 activations! I was pretty annoyed by this, especially since the Amazon downloads are market as a way to never loose your games since you can download them over and over again. I appreciate the need for copywrite protection, but this isn't the answer. I have being playing Heros of Might Magic for years and have installed some of the versions on a half a dozen machines that I have gone through over the years. Between computer issues and new hardware, it is very easy to blow through 3 installs. Now I only paid the sales price of $8.75 so I would have bought it had I knows this limitation. I almost bought it last week when it was nearly full price, and I'm glad I didn't.

I had no problem launching "King's Bounty: The Legend". However when I tried to launch "King's Bounty: Armored Princess" I got the error "The program can't start because d3dx9_41.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem". Reinstalling is not the answer. Apparently Windows 7 64 bit has trouble recognizing all of the earlier Active X components and didn't add the file's path to the Registry. The solution was to run Microsofts DX webinstaller - [...]. That adds all of the exisiting Active X components in and registers them and it fixed my problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are worried about 3 activations January 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
The purchased serial number is good for 3 activations only. What's not mentioned is that you can deactivate the game for 9 times, allowing you to reactivate again. In simple terms, you get a total of 12 chances to activate IF YOU DEACTIVATE everytime.

The problem is this procedure is NOT mentioned in the user manual or by other reviewers. The game installs WITHOUT creating a shortcut to "protect.exe" which is the program you need to run in order to deactivate.

THIS GAME IS VERY GOOD blend of strategy and RPG. Graphic is a little simplistic by today's standard without voice acting, but the scripts are good. The turn-based strategy is good. Building up your units over several turns is key to victory. For the amazingly lowp rice of $9 you get the original game plus 2 expansion packs. Great value!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good couple's game December 3, 2010

My wife and I enjoy playing this game together. The gameplay allows for pausing and the combat is turn-based, which is appealing as it's easy to stop/start; plus you don't have to remember quest actions, so if you don't play it for a few weeks, it's easy to pick back up again.

Crossworlds is completely broken for me, but Legend works fine. Still no fixes for Crossworlds, even after an hour's search.

1.0 out of 5 stars Will never know if this is a good game...
Maybe this is a good game, but I guess I'll never know, since it will not open on either of the two different computers I tried it on. Tried different fixes, but to no avail.

DRM free?
"I think it should be written in every products' details if it is DRM-free or not. "

Seconded. Oh well, it makes it easier to determine whether or not I wont buy a game from Amazon. Just a simple no.

King's Bounty: Platinum Edition but NO Armored Princess?
Armored Princess is bundled within the Crossworlds expansion.

Anyone know if you can register this on Steam?
That's not correct, there's a list of retail games, most without any DRM, that can be registered on Steam: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-wusf-3601#which
Kings Bounty is not on that list.
