E.T.A. Hoffmann (1776–1822) was a German composer, caricaturist, critic, and author. His works include The Golden Pot and Other Tales and The Life and Opinions of the Tomcat Murr. Paul Turner has previously translated the work of Longus and Thomas More.

You are at once plunged into a world of beauty and fantasy, by a writer whose gift for storytelling never, ever, lags.
