This review is from: The King's Day: Louis XIV of France (Paperback)
I discovered this book by accident. Our 2nd grade history curriculum had the most wonderful information about Louis XIV's privileged life style and left the children wanting to know more. As I perused the "Additional Information" section at the end of the lesson on Louis XIV, they noted that much of their information about King Louis had been derived from this book by Aliki.Once it arrived, the kids couldn't wait to get their hands on this book and had a hard time sharing. For that reason alone I am glad I was able to purchase the hardcover version. It has been worth every cent. If you want to enrich your curriculum on pre-Revolutionary France for younger and even upper elementary students, this is the book to buy. It is not extensive in the information it offers, but what it offers is mind-boggling. It really helps the children to understand the opulent life of King Louis and highlights how far removed and protected he was from the lives of the ordinary citizens of France. Excellent enrichment resource!
