This review is from: A King's Legacy: The Clyde King Story (Paperback)
This is a simple story about a ordinary guy that had an extraordinary life. Kids today don't know what they have missed when they grow up with all the toys and all the priviledges and all the sports camps. Today we would call someone growing up in Clyde King's environment "severely underprivledged" and probably unable to make much of themselves. His life story however shows that where there's a will there is in fact a way. If you can't afford a baseball, do what Clyde and his brothers did...make it with a rock, twine and tape. Can't afford a glove?...trace your hand on a scrap of old leather (from a thrown out sofa) and sew the two pieces together. Not only did his determination take him to college, but also to the big leagues and 56 years in major league baseball!!! What a story!
