2.0 out of 5 stars Needs more consistency
As far as production is concerned, this is the best of the Triple Six Mafia underground releases, for the sole purpose that some of the tracks (not all of them) are up to par with the rest of the industry. There are three or four that sound like they were recorded in the basement, and they don't fit in at all. However, the album is worth buying just for "Da Summa...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great 3-6 CD!!!, February 22, 2001

This is one of the best Three 6 Mafia releases to date. There are a number of quality tracks on this CD, such as numbers 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, and 15. The rest of the songs are also tight, but not my favorites on the CD. The track that you HAVE to check out is the "Da Summa (Remix)". It's one of THE tightest Mafia track's ever to grace my headphones, as every Mafia member rips this tracks up, and the lyrics are accompanied by one of the tighest backrounds I've ever heard on a song. Something that caught my ears was that I noticed that a little more effort went into writing the lyrics. I may actually payed more attention to them this time though, but they were better than usual, which is an added plus to this already excellent CD. So, I recommend this CD to any fan of the Three 6 Mafia, Midwest rap, or Down South Rap. Later...

4.0 out of 5 stars Dope Cd!, July 15, 2005
This review is from: Kings of Memphis: Underground 3 (Audio CD)
This cd is a good collection to go with anyones hypnotized records collection, it brings it back to the days back in Memphis where three six mafia started out. lots of hot flows, wicked course lines, and some bomb ass beats, that only the supa producers could bring you. Dj Paul and Juicy J do it right with the beats on the real...so go out and get this killer cd!!

PEACE

5.0 out of 5 stars Hot as Hades!, August 6, 2002

I have all three underground volumes of the triple 6 mafia and this is by far their best work. Their effort and toil paid off with their release of Vol. 3 Kings of Memphis. My personal favs are: "Da Summa Remix" [beautiful cruisin in ya ride joint], "Powder" [an insightful and comedic narration/rap of drug use], "Lockdown" [an intuitive look into the jail life at 201], and last but not least... Sleep. [This has got to be the most mesmorizing song the triple six mafia has every produced. Perfectly mixed ambient sounds make it a winner. And if you think that's nice just listen to it at night. The first verse is a powerful one given by Lord Infamous aka the "Scarecrow." His verse is very quick yet he manages to pack stunning lyrical devices. He utilizes significant metaphors and symbols. What's even more awing is how all the members compliment each ohter on this song and the whole album for that matter. Realize a bargain and buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Chapter 2 world domination of the underground cd's, June 12, 2006
This review is from: Kings of Memphis: Underground 3 (Audio CD)
This is a 4 and a half cd. It is not completely underground cd. Some songs are newer. Sleep is one of the best rap songs I have ever heard. I is hauntingly beautiful especially the chorus that woman singing is a surprise. She sounds ghosty. Grab the gage is the second best song. It is hard as hell. Fo da summa rexix is tight so is powder, there ode to blow. Most songs are good I won't name them all. This good cd to pick up if you want to know what 3 6 sounded like when they where the triple 6 mafia. Solid release wish they still sounded like this, but ow well. Also pick up THE KAZE another tight prophet entertainment release. Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a Classic., October 22, 2003

This is simply a classic. By far the best Triple 6 unerground album and even better that most of their widely distributed albums. The remix to Da Summa is the best track on the album, but all the tracks are something the Triple 6 can be proud of.

I have been a fan of the Hypnotize Minds/Prophet Click for a long time now. I have most of their CD's. What you will be listening for will go with your preference. If you are still on the whole Mystic Stylez thing then peep "Grab tha Gauge", but if you just want stuff you can bump/chill to then this CD is it. It is the second best CD behind "Chapter 2: World Domination" and right above "Bodyparts", and I would recommend this WHOLE CD too everyone because I love every song. (M.E.M.P.H.I.S. remix and Da Summa 2000 especially and Powder (the higher version)), but if you've given up on the all the Hypnotize Camp releases (as after Chapter 2) and disappointed with When the smoke clears 6661 (although I thought it was bumpin!) Then cop this CD and enjoy some really classic/underground Three 6 music.

Smokin On Da Dro and Sleep are two of the hottest tracks on the album. Grab Da Gauge goes hard as well with the Front Page sample.
