The Best of the Three......,
By Debs (London,UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The King's New Man (Historical Romance) (Hardcover)
Elizabeth Henshall writes a great story and if you like Betrayed Hearts(Ghislaine de Launey and Guy de Courcy)and Madseline's Choice (Ghislaines childhood friend Edwin and Madselin) you'll love this one. The Kings New Man seems to be the last of the three, set in 1107, Lady Maude De Valliant is a mercenary and good friend of Elfie, Madselin and Edwin's daughter. Her old arch enemy Geoffry Gant has kidnapped her brother Philipe and Gant will kill him if Maude fails to get close to William De Rohan sent north to claim Gant's lands. She does this by becoming De Rohans bodyguard and so becomes Gants spy. But once in De Rohans employ Maude finds not a defenceless peacock but a deceptively clever man who is more than capable of defending himself. But he is an ambitious man and Maude de Valliant, mercenary, suspected witch and almost certainly the grubbiest spy in England is not supposed to feature in his plans. A great read - oh why are there not more books by this fanatstic Author??!!
