5.0 out of 5 stars We miss you Mia, March 26, 2001

I saw a Gits show in Eugene, OR. the night before Mia died. I feel so f**king blessed to have seen the Gits live. The Gits were our generations Stooges. Second Skin a punk anthem! Probably the most underrated band in America. They were fabulous. Herein, lies the power and and passion of the Gits captured on disk. Please check out there more polished albums. Amazing stuff. Evil stig was also fantastic. Check out the Dancing French Liberals of '48. Post Gits work. It's not the Gits, but it still rocks...

It makes me mad when something so beautiful is taken from this world. We miss you Mia!

So good you'll cry. Mia Zapata's voice, the music...unbelievable. The world may have lost Mia Zapata, but at least we still have the music. Start with "Cut my skin it makes me human"...you won't recover. You're gonna want this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff, November 23, 2006
This review is from: Kings & Queens (Audio CD)
Naturally, this isn't the Gits' best release - it's essentially an early demo tape. Still, it's better than most releases in the genre and in music in general. The early versions of The Gits' classics are as mindblowing as the later ones, and are well worth owning. Out of the songs featured only on Kings and Queens, Look Right Through Me is my favourite. It's an amazing track, with grit, passion and hooks, and could fit with ease into the Gits' "official" albums. There are two covers. The incredible Graveyard Blues (Bessie Smith) where Mia uses her unbelievably powerful voice magnificently in a more conventional music form than usually, and a must-hear cover of Loose, better than the original by the Stooges.
This is a a must-have for every music-fan, great potent punk with elements of hard rock and blues... and a great addition to the Gits' small but priceless and powerful catalog.
