Editorial Reviews

2013 album from the American Reggae outfit. Kings And Queens is the band's most ambitious release to date, encompassing the entire history of the band's sound and legacy. Lead vocalist Elliot Martin reaches new levels of songwriting by striking the fine balance between classic JBB roots and a fresh new JBB sound. The album features songs that are dripping in their signature Future Roots sound influenced by British Reggae (Aswad, Steel Pulse), roots classics (Burning Spear, Alpha Blondy), dub experimentation (Scientist, King Tubby, Sly & Robbie), and modern Electronica. The results are a thicker, heavier style than most modern Reggae.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still some of the best reggae around April 24, 2013
By Atomick
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
After loving their 2008 release, this album was highly anticipated for me. The album is great and the first two songs are simply amazing, bringing a smile to my face not only as someone who has been a fan of the group for years, but also as someone who doesn't assume or take for granted that an album will be/is great just because it is the work of an artist one likes. Heavy horns, great vocals, catchy melodies and rhythms...not quite as good as Amplified in my opinion, but then again I've had years for that album to grow on me, which I'm sure Kings and Queens will too. Highly recommended to fans of reggae.

This release is as good or better than the other JBB releases. It gets you moving and still has the chilling riddiums one can expect from the band. Highly recommended and cannot wait until the next release. Thanks JBB for making my life worthwhile:).

This is absolutely epic. Original, tight, high quality - this release has charisma (check it out for yourself) and is so worth it.

Awesome band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Album Yet! October 30, 2013
Format:Vinyl
JBB are masters of taking roots reggae and making it sound modern without the tacky over-produced elements that dominate mainstream reggae music. This album is good to the last drop. Buy it, then see them live. You won't regret it.
