Royal servants picked up sets of knives, forks, and spoons of all shapes and sizes. The servants set each piece of silverware in its proper place on the fine linen cloth covering the banquet table. Elegant crystal goblets stood tall next to gold-rimmed plates. Dainty lace napkins lay folded in delightful fan-shaped designs. But all was not well at the king's banquet. The silverware was squabbling about who would serve the next course. Each piece wanted the other's job. The king was not happy and the guests weren't getting fed until the king showed them that they were specially designed for what he wanted them to do.
