I originally read this book many, many year's ago and was so impressed with the story, that I just had to buy it from Amazon when I saw that it was available for purchase. They made a movie about this story years ago with Frank Sinatra, Tony Curtis, and Natalie wood. I thought the typecasting in the movie was right on, but true to some of the morons in hollywood who changed the story's ending, the picture didn't have the true impact of the book. It's a bittersweet, sad story about love and war that I felt was significant. Read it!
