From the Manufacturer

KingsBottle knows that not all wine can be stored the same way. Different wines need to be served at different temperatures. Rich and full-bodied reds should be served at 59-65F (15-18C); light reds at 53-57F (12-14C); whites and rose at 44-57F (7-14C), and sparkling wines at 43-48F ( 6-9C). With a dual zone wine cellar you no longer have to choose between your favorites. Dual zone wine cellars can accommodate two different serving temperatures. KingsBottle understands the need for different temperatures and the desire for convenience of being able to store them all in one wine cellar. This is why we created our dual zone wine cellars. The advantage of a dual zone wine cellar is that you can store both reds and whites at their ideal temperatures. All of the KingsBottle dual zone wine cellars come with our 100% satisfaction guarantee. We take pride in providing you with the best in refrigerated wine storage. This 50 bottle, dual zone unit is perfect for any amateur wine collector. This unit can be added to a custom cabinet design, but is also beautiful enough to stand on its own. With this unit you won’t have to play favorites with your wines. With our 100% satisfaction guarantee you can’t go wrong.

First off, let me say, I am by no means a serious collector. With that out of the way, I do have some fairly nice wine that requires decent storage for a few years to come. As such, I needed to upgrade my storage unit (cool closet) to an official wine cooler/fridge. Like many people on Amazon or winecoolerdirect, I spent an unhealthy amount of time researching which cooler to sink my teeth into. One website would commend a specific cooler for is quiet motor, and another would berate it for being too loud. So, here are some things I was interested in when I made my purchase, and after that I'll explain why I chose the Kingsbottle 50 bottle dual zone.

First, like many of us, I am on a bit of a budget. I didn't have the ability to drop more than ~1k on a cooler. Of course I'd love to have purchased a Marvel, but unless you're buying the 1949 Cheval Blanc at auction you're not likely going to afford the Marvel. Additionally, my wife would not have any of it, even though she is now greatly enjoying having a cooler. So, I needed to keep my budget under $1000. I looked at Edgestar, Avanti, Danby Summit, Vinotemp and Avalon in addition to Kingsbottle. Why did I chose the Kingsbottle based on budget in comparison with these others? More bang for my buck it seemed.

Secondly, I was looking for wood racks (there are old articles that state metal racks provide inconsistent cool spots in your wine...which leads to circulation...which leads to premature aging...yeah, I know....a little OCD perhaps.).

Thirdly, I wanted a dual climate in case I wanted to store champagne or white or dessert wines.

Next, I was interested in having a stand alone unit that could also be built in to my kitchen should the opportunity present itself over the next year or two.

I love wine and always have need to store a number of bottles at home for short and medium term storage, by which I mean for up to a year or two. My challenge has been that I recently moved from London to California and only had a small amount of space in my new home in California. What I didn't want to do though is compromise on how I store my wine.
This unit was perfect as fits in the space that would normally be for a dryer, and I bought a 2 in 1 washer dryer to alleviate the need for using that space for the dryer. However although the space has a plenty pig enough footprint for a wine fridge it was limited in height by a built in shelf. This unit is much shorter than a full size fridge, at about 56 inches in height, so perfect for my needs.
The challenge however is that I had not heard of Kingsbottle and I was hesitant about trusting my gorgeous wine to an unknown fridge. But due to my space limitations I felt I had little choice, so I took the plunge.
The short story is that I think this fridge represents decent value for money and that I found Kingsbottle a pleasure to do business with, I also bought the Assurant 360 coverage and was pleasantly surprised to get an un-promted call from them checking I was happy with everything. Thing is I'm not going to know unless I have to make a claim, which i certainly hope not!!

Update one week after purchase:

-Compressor failed after less than one week of operation. Tried to contact Kingsbottle and they do not return messages. Returning the unit to Amazon.
-Unit is manufactured in China. I suspect Kingsbottle sources from the same supplier who built the N'FINTY 170 cooler. If you do your research you'll see the units look identifical and have the same specficiations. Reviews of the N'FINITY 170 were terrible, and the unit has been discontinued. One of the most common compliants was compressor failure, so not surprising that mine failed so quickly.

Should have done better research before buying this unit. Strongly suggest staying away.

Just got this cooler last week (with stainless steel door).

Pro's:
-Great delivery service. Just note that standard Amazon shipping doesn't include unboxing and placement. They did bring it to the room where it will reside and two adults were easily able to move it to it's final location. It is heavy though, so have the
-Lots of storage. Our collection has mixed bottle sizes, and most fit well. Overall I expect to be able to get 8-10 bottles on each of the 15 shelves. Note quite the 170 capacity advertised, but very close.
-Good temperature zone ranges. Just note that the bottom and top have to be 4 degrees different.
-Easy to use electronics.
-Ball bearing shelves are very easy to slide in and out. Wood is of medium quality, but the design is great. Bottles sit nicely on the shelves.
-Interior blue lighting is very nice.
-Looks great freestanding, but has under unit ventiliation if you want to use it as a built in.

Con's
-Some of the shelves are very close together.
