Book Description

August 2003
Charged with an epic mission to find and destroy the one many believed to be the evil mastermind of the galaxy, a brilliant young man's destiny takes on strange and startling dimensions.

This spellbinding story opens with high-voltage excitement in the year 3975, with the abrupt expulsion of Kit Kellan from the School of Engineering of the prestigous Terra University in Washington, D.C. for engaging in original thought. As he is led from the school, Kit is abducted by a diplomat from the People's Revolutionary Society--an organization dedicated to freeing the galaxy from the dark tyranny of the mysterious Arbiter. With no choice except to undertake the dangerous missions assigned to him, Kit is swept relentlessly toward a final confrontation with the Arbiter--and a stunning climax.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Fans of space operas and old action-adventure radio serials should appreciate this rousing drama, which appeared in a pulp in the 1950s. It's 3975, and civilization has spread out among the stars. Unfortunately, people still don't get along, so an Arbiter has been selected. When it seems that the Arbiter may be despotic and responsible for countless evils, Christopher Randall Kellan, a 30-year-old veteran of the spaceways, is chosen to seek out the mysterious Arbiter. As he undertakes his dangerous mission, you may believe you have time traveled to your youth and are listening to an exciting radio serial, with Chinese and Hispanic villains sneering while the stalwart, red-haired hero comes up with new super-scientific inventions to defeat them. The large cast employs many voices and accents, obviously enjoying themselves to the hilt. Readers will, too. Hubbard's dialogue-heavy tale makes for lively listening, and though there's no time for subtlety here, the author's descriptions of everything from space outposts to a simple game of chess are remarkably colorful.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting and shocking saga, November 16, 2003
This review is from: The Kingslayer: Seven Steps to the Arbiter (Audio CD)
Set in the year 3975, The Kingslayer is an unabridged, brilliant science-fiction audiobook by the immensely popular author L. Ron Hubbard. Kit Kellan is a young genius who finds himself compelled to uncover the secrets of single, evil man whose power holds the galaxy in thrall. An exciting and shocking saga which is dramatically presented as a true "theatre of the mind" experience with its multi-cast performance, The Kingslayer is an unabridged and technically flawless production. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent., July 29, 2007
This review is from: The Kingslayer: Seven Steps to the Arbiter (Audio CD)
Kingslayer is one of many great sci-fi stories L Ron Hubbard wrote for Astounding Science Fiction magazine back in the genre's Golden Age. If you're not yet a fan of Golden Age Science Fiction, give this one a try.

Bridge Audio did a superb job of dramatizing the story, as they also did with Mission Earth and To the Stars. Audio Book fans and OTR aficionados will be pleased.
