I would consider myself within the "prosumer" photography market. You won't catch me buying a high end Canon 1D anytime soon, but as a graphic designer who has to shoot my own pictures sometimes (with my beloved 30D) having tons of storage for a good price is important. 2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed.
So against my better judgement, I purchased this cheaper CF card for a professional gig for my assistant's camera (a.k.a. my wife). Half way through the wedding, my wife's camera started behaving weirdly - the RAW cache wouldn't empty onto the card so it was always about 20 pictures behind. I transferred it to my camera, giving me the same strange behavior.

I would consider myself within the "prosumer" photography market. You won't catch me buying a high end Canon 1D anytime soon, but as a graphic designer who has to shoot my own pictures sometimes (with my beloved 30D) having tons of storage for a good price is important. I originally purchased 2 of these cards for a 10 day trip to Poland, and because I wouldn't have access to a computer, I needed lots of storage. I popped the card in my 30D, hit the menu button then went to format card. The progress bar shot across the screen; everything A OK. Shot about 30 pictures on small JPEG, then switched to RAW and got about 50 shots in before I got the 'error' message other people reported. Turning the camera off, then back on again seemed to cure the ailment only temporarily however. Within batches of 25 shots I was getting error after error. Finally I could not continue shooting until I removed the battery, put it back in, and powered the camera back on.

I read that it is a VERY good idea to format new cards with your computer before using on a digital camera. I have formatted my card and it seems to be working much better now. I haven't shot 1000's of shots yet, so I cannot assure you that this is a bullet-proof fix. Other than this error issue, the price was excellent was better on amazon than ebay, newegg, or even any photography sites I checked. The speed seemed to be much better than my old Compact Flash card; I was able to shoot 5-6 RAW images in burst mode without getting a busy light. Keep in mind though that my camera is 8.1 megapixels, higher quality cameras will see degraded performance obviously.

Overall I gave this card a 4/5 because it works well... when it actually works. Just make sure you format with your computer BEFORE shooting.

At the end of the day, while backing up all the files, it turned out that over 300 images had not been saved at ALL. Running diagnostics on the card showed that one of its storage areas had failed.

I wrote an email to Kingston Customer Service, nicely voicing my concerns and asking for them to replace the card. I have not even received an acknowledgment from their part, after sending the email multiple times.

Kingston are normally great with this stuff, so I don't know what's wrong.

That said, this may have been a dud from the start so I am not saying the entire line is terrible, as I am sure some people on here have used this card for months on end with no problems...I am just disappointed and from now on will pay the extra fifty bucks for a more expensive card to match my primary cards!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Memory card, April 6, 2010

I bought this card for my pocket pc because it doesn't support SDHC, and I was excited to find that it was compatible with an 8gb cf card.

I have had it for a month now and it is fast and reliable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Own 2, Looking to buy 2 more!, June 8, 2011
This review is from: Kingston 8 GB CompactFlash Memory Card CF/8GB (Personal Computers)
As the title says, I own 2 of these cards, both have been perfect! I tend to take over 1,000 pictures in an event, no problem. I've taken these cards to sports games, the zoo, weddings, even to work (I work at a walmart)! The first one is (maybe) a year old, second one not much younger and I never needed new ones because of storing problems or having problems with my camera (Canon Rebel XT) or computers. Even the kiosks at work have had no problems with my card.

The only reason I'm looking to buy more is to fill a CF storage case I have so I'll have a few more backups incase I fill my cards or need to organize until I store onto my computer to edit and whatnot. If you're looking for something inexpensive, but sturdy, these cards will be great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product so Far, February 22, 2011

I got ahold of a Photography magazine in Border the other day and it rated the best CF cards and this Kingston 8GB model was actually one of the top two highest rated of all of the ones that they tested (Including SanDisk and Lexar).

I'm not sure about the problems that people are having but I had no problem with my card. I put it into my Nikon D700, formated it right away and have had no problems taking any pictures.

***IMPORTANT***

I hope that everyone who is using these and everyone who uses CF cards in general remembers to format the card in your camera before every use. There can sometimes be remnants of things left on the cards after you transfer the pictures and it is also recommended to never format cards with your computer because this can also leave things on the cards.

I'll make sure I change my review if I have problems in the future but as of right now, these have been amazing CF cards for the price.

Good overall CF. No problems at all. Not the top speed but good enough for my DSLR. No problems what so ever.

I was in the middle of shooting pictures of my neices birthday party when my Canon XTI suddenly gave me a message that there is an error with the card. I had taken the card out and tried to retrieve the photos that I had taken with a card reader but the files had magically disappeared. Very disappointed with this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Cards, February 6, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kingston 8 GB CompactFlash Memory Card CF/8GB (Personal Computers)
I am happy with my purchase. They are memory cards and they are a dime a dozen, but these cards work perfectly in my camera. I just bought a used Sony Alpha 100 and can't wait to go out and take pictures. The cards store the photos fast and the upload to the computer is fast as well. Great cards for the money, a little more expensive than others but worth the price.
