In my first use, when I was working in a wedding, after only the 50 first clicks, I was informed by the camera that the memory card couldn`t record any images.
I was in panic because all my job (it was a making of) was in risk and I didn't have time to repeat the shots. I have changed the memory card by an old one and finished my job.
Happily I recovered the images on the trouble card, but I never will feel comfortable using this Compact Flash again.

I'm going with 2 stars on this one because 1 out of 2 isn't too bad. It looks like when these cards get HOT they start to fail. I've updated this after doing some more testing of these cards.

These cards work when they work and are probably okay for casual shooting. The 600x speed is a joke IMHO - I have two SanDisk cards at 400x and they are incredibly faster. So far I get about 20-35mb/s in windows 7 from a direct to SATA card reader - not usb. This is also the case with my lexar express card CF reader. Same speeds. The SanDisk cards at 400x are 40-60mb/s just to give an example.

Now for the bad stuff:
1 card has lost not only 1 critical video clip during a film shoot, but also 2 other clips during wedding video shoots which is not okay. My 7D crapped out on this one card pretty bad - I upgraded the firmware to address the camera going into "busy" mode, but now instead it just drops the last clip it was writting to this card.

Also the 1 card (I have 2) transfers at 10mb/s while the other is 20-35mb/s, still not 600x (90mb/s). These cards are rated at 90mb/s which I've never seen even close to these transfer speeds. I would say they are closer to 30mb/s on average.

I'm a highly technical cinematographer who also writes a lot of software as a software architect so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to technology reviews.

1 card works as expected but slow. No issues there, but after 3 shoots of failed clips the other card is total junk. I would never expect this kind of thing from some other manufacturers who are 100% reliable 100% of the time in 100% of the cameras and devices out there.

The limited duration waranty should tell you everything you need to know. There's a reason other manufacturers - including Kingston - offer a lifetime warranty on their cards. This one is not one of those.

UPDATE: I tried one of these cards again with the same results as the failed cards. Moved review to 1 star. 2 out of 3 bad cards isn't good. Next.

These Kingston CF cards are rated for 600x and for the price, seem like a great deal. I shoot photo & video and have used these in my Nikon D3 and Canon 5D2 camera bodies without any compatibility issues. Shot-to-shot in the D3, they're fine and writing video to the 5D Mark II. Neither of these two cameras really push the IO envelope with read/write to the card; however when it comes to read/write performance on my computers is where I start to see the difference between these cards and more expensive Sandisk IV CF cards. When benchmarking side by side, the Sandisk is quite a bit faster; almost 40% on average. With the camera bodies I am currently shooting with, I would have no problem recommending these cards as they're an inexpensive alternative to higher priced cards from other big name manufacturers. For cameras that have larger memory buffers and subsequently can write faster to a card, I'd say stick with 600x rated Sandisk or Lexar cards.
