Worse yet, the directory looked like the files were all copied properly until you tried to open the files.

I spoke with Customer Support at Kingston Technology Co. (Fountain Valley, CA; (877)546-4786) a few minutes ago (Friday afternoon February 20, 2009) - they said that the 64gb flash drive pictured is not one of their products. The design, color and logo is more like their 2gb not 64gb flash drives. There are other inconsistencies also. Caveat Emptor.

This is a counterfeit/fake USB drive! There is no Kingston DataTraveler 64GB in this color/style. Beware. It is a smaller-capacity drive that has been hacked to show up as a 64GB drive in Windows. Its actual capacity is much smaller, only about 2GB. If you copy more than 2GB of content to the drive, it will appear to copy successfully but when you access the files it won't work.

I purchased this usb drive and the higher priced
kingston 64gb drive(DT150/64GB 64GB DataTraveler 150 USB 2.0 Flash Drive (Red/Black)) which sold for approx. $115 at the time. This drive is really, really slow compared to the more expensive one. It was 1/4 the throughput of the more expensive one. On the cosmetics side, it sure looks like a cheaply made item too. I didn't have any technical problems with it, so if its really poor speed is not an issue for you, maybe it's worth the $40 difference in price. I tested these devices by copying the same 15gb file to each, one device at a time. I know that bigger usb drives have performance issues, especially with larger files but on a straight comparison of apples to apples this device was dismal.

This product does not work. Period. Too many data errors. Worse yet, the directory looked like the files were all copied properly until you tried to open the files. This gave me a wrong sense of security that my files were backed up!! Good thing I double-checked it.
