innovatably impressive,
This review is from: Kingston Data Traveler II Plus - Migo Edition - USB flash drive - 2 GB ( DTII+M/2GB ) (Retail Package) (Personal Computers)
You would think to yourself, "will there ever be a flash drive that will satisfy my needs?". Surprisingly enough, this one meets my requirements. Not only is it big enough to hold numerous files, unlike those 256 mb drives, it also has an incredibly fast rate at reading and writing the files. With 16mbps, and 13mbps to write/read, it is definelty faster than the ordinary flash drive from sandisk, memorex, etc. Furthermore, it has migo- if you do not like migo, not to worry, you do not have to install it, unlike those U3 enabled drives that are U3 smart "forever". Click on the link that gives the tutorial in amazon for the migo edition, and that will literaly explain what it does. So far, this is an impressive item, however the kingston company fails to provide a lanyard big enough to put around your neck, because the one they giv is for a key chain. Furthermore the cap, once it is off the USB drive has no way of staying on once it is hooked up to the computer, so keep an eye on it!!
Nonetheless, this item is amazing, it has my approval.

I was not as interested in the security requirements, but rather the capacity to haul large files between computers.
I researched other large USB flash drives and was concerned about transfer rates and reliability. This thing is a horse. I highly recommend it...

Good drive, loose cap, compare to Sandisk Cruzer Titanium,

This drive is OK, but there is a better alternative (more on that below). I am still learning the Migo software and how I might use it to keep things synchronized between my laptop and desktop. The biggest benefit for me would be to be able to read and reply to e-mails on either machine. As far as files and Internet bookmarks, I have better ways to keep those in sync.
The only annoyance is that the cap doesn't fit on the other end of the drive when it's off. I don't think that any flash drive should be designed that way. I am thinking of affixing velcro to the side of the drive and the side of the cap. I think that will work. Otherwise, keeping track of the cap is just one more detail that I don't want to keep track of. I would give this drive more than 3 stars, however the loose cap knocks it down one, and the fact that there is a better alternative knocks it down one. After buying this drive I found a better alternative on Amazon for less. The Titanium Sandisk Cruzer 2G is more durable with a retracting cap. I ordered one of those today. That has U3 software on it. I have no connection with Sandisk, and I think just reviewing the two drives will speak for itself. I have a hard time keeping track of what the software on these devices does, so I will just use it as a normal flash drive. For that, this should do just fine. However check out the Sandisk -- I think that is the better of the two if Amazon still sells it for the same price or less.

This is by far the best USB flash drive I have ever bought. The Migo software that comes with it is also awesome, now I don't have to worry if it ever gets lost or stolen because the Migo encripts my files. I would highly recommend this product. Hope this helps in your desicion to purchase.

This is one of the fastest flash drives I have used. The transfer rates are great! Transferring files to this flash drive is like transferring files to a local hard drive. I found the Migo software that came with this helpful for quick backups. I've had this Kingston flash drive for 6 months and had no problems and used it every day.

I bought this USB device just for the included MIGO software but I got in love with the Data Traveler since the very first day. It is a really fast device with a good form factor and a discrete activity light. Its size make it ideal for a bunch of portable applications and I have loaded 0.5GB with a sort of portable office and its performance is fairly acceptable.
The added value of the included software should be accepted as is. The Secure Travel is a little bit cumbersome at the beginning but it will be invaluable if you lost the stick. On the other hand, the Migo software works great...when it works. I have some trouble with my Thunderbird email account because Migo refuse to detect the installed TB configuration. I reported the problem but I just receive a suggestion to upgrade and after that, no single response. I later discovered that Migo works OK in my wife's computer but not in mine. I hope I can solve the problem in the near future and have a chance to use the software to its full potential.

I received this drive yesterday and am really please with it. I should say from the get go that I planned to use this to transfer files from my Powerbook laptop (mac) to my Dell XPS (PC). From my PC I found the steps to set up an optional password protection on all or part of the drive very simple and easy to use and (luckily) set up only part of the drive to be password protected and rest to be visible and accessible with out the password. So far super great until I attempted to copy a document from my mac to the copy protected area of the drive. No goer there. One can only see and use the non-pass word protected portion of the drive from a mac. The password protected partition can only be viewed and accessed from a PC ; ( This is ok for me, as i can simply copy the files to the general area and then later when the drive is connected to my PC move those files to the copy protected area but still....I do wish I had known this before buying the drive.
NOTE: remember to do the partition before you copy any info to the drive as the process will wipe all existing data from the memory. Also there is an additional click necessary to open and then add a file to the password protected area of the drive so keeping part of the drive password protection free will probably be a good idea for simple and easy drag and drop when you doing a quick file transfer to another computer.

Great flash drive. Huge hidden gems inside a rather bland looking device.,
This review is from: Kingston Data Traveler II Plus - Migo Edition - USB flash drive - 2 GB ( DTII+M/2GB ) (Retail Package) (Personal Computers)
This is one of the most boring looking flash drives on the market, but one has to look past it's looks and see it's amazing software package offerings.
SecureTraveler, it lets one secure all or some of the drive's partition with 128-bit encryption. And Migo syncs the drive with all windows and email installation files for the user to carry around.
