4.0 out of 5 stars Decent speed for a large drive like this
This drive stores a whopping 32GB, so I expected it to be horribly slow. Much to my surprise, the file transfer speed was pretty good. I can't think of having to carry around this much data, but at around $80, you can't go wrong. I'd give it a 5star, but it's not as fast as the DTS/DTSP series. Excellent drive though, and I've tested a lot of them.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very slow data transfer
Started a data transfer and left the house. Upon return 8.5 hours later, the data transfer was still in progress... 10.4 GB in 8.5 hours. Used the same USB port to transfer data using both Sony and Toshiba thumb drives which worked at normal speeds. I would not buy this product again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Large Drive and Fairly Fast, November 17, 2008

I have several drives with 4GB to 16GB. The problem was I had to copy different files onto different drives. I needed a larger Flash Drive to be able to copy virtually all my files on just one drive and this one fit the bill.

Aside from holding nearly all your files, it is also fairly fast. I copied 5GB of files in just 12 minutes. There may be faster drives, but considering the 32GB and low price, this one is well worth considering.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fair tradeoff, November 18, 2008

As others have mentioned, it's not fast. At worst it's been as low as 5mbps, but generally speaking I can fill it in 35-40 minutes, which isn't bad at all for a 32GB drive. If you just need small files fast, you're better off with a high speed 2GB drive anyway, this is more for your weekly personal backup to put in the safe deposit box, or that sort of use.

I would also like to point out for those noticing that it reads "30.1GB" in Windows - we have reached a point where there is a noticeable difference between a gigabyte (what this has 32 of) and a gibibyte (what this has 30.1 of). The terms have been confused because they were used in two different standards, but your operating system reads data in binary groupings by JDEC standards, so it's technically measuring in kibibytes (1024 bytes), mebibytes (1024 kibibytes), and gibibytes (1024 mebibytes). Drives are sold in SI unit gigabytes (1000 megabytes) rounded down. If you multiply it out, a 32 gigabyte drive is 32,000,000,000 bytes, while your operating system calls it "32 GB" at 34,359,738,368 bytes. So no, you're not being cheated out of that last 1.9GB.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT MUSIC STORAGE, November 5, 2008

I was in a quandry for something easy to store my music and pictures on,this drive answered that need.I wanted to have something easy to transfer between my desktop and laptop.I have about 160 CD's and 500 pictures including videos on this drive so far and I still have 23 gigs of space left.I used Goodsync to transfer all my files and I must add,the program works great for this type of use,it synced and copied between my PC and the drive, speed averaged about 4.0 MBS which is king of slow but it gets the job done.It took about 35 minutes to copy a little over 6.5 gigs. The drive works flawless,I'm happy.

The drive stores data quickly and works very well. However, it is a bit "fat" which makes it difficult to squeeze in to USB ports at times. I often use the USB on the side of my Mac keyboard and this drive makes the board uneven and bends the port.

The size is noticably bigger than other smaller capacity pen drives of upto 8 gb. however its small enough to conveniently carry it in your jeans or jacket pocket. the performance is good as per usb 2.0 standards. overall, great for ppl who want lots of space (32 gb) in a pocketable form factor, and for those who dont wanna carry bulky external HDDs. 32 GB carries a lot, esp in a pen drive..

Although Windows (XP Pro) Explorer/Properties only shows the Capacity to be 30.0 GB, it works great and I am happy with it. I use it to store videos which can also be run from the flash drive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little memory stick, January 9, 2009

This review is from: Kingston DataTraveler 150 - 32 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DT150/32GB (Orange/Black) (Personal Computers)
I am very happy with the quality and capacity of this product for the money! I bought this specifically to format and install the full version of Mac OS 10.5.6 and boot from the device. I can now boot any of my Intel macs from this USB device and run disk utilities on the internal hard drives.

The black stripe around the edge is textured which lets you get a better grip on the traveler and the cap. The cap stores on the end of the device while the USB end is plugged into your computer. The little lanyard they include is a nice thought but it is worthless.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, could use some improvements, January 26, 2009

This review is from: Kingston DataTraveler 150 - 32 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DT150/32GB (Orange/Black) (Personal Computers)
Review for Kingston DataTraveler 32 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive DT150/32GB

This is a decently priced, high quality USB Flash Drive. I have dropped it about 10-15 times, so I know :). Which brings me to the con - This drive could have used a lanyard/neck strap so as to tie it around the neck. Also, on some computers, this drive cannot be kept next to another USB drive due to the wideness. Could have been a bit more slimmer. But hey, for the price, this is good enough. Also, this happened only in a small subset of computers; so no big deal.

Pros: Fairly Fast for the size, decently priced for the storage space, easy detection on Ubuntu/Windows/Mac.
Cons: Lack of a lanyard/strap for tethering, slightly too wide on some computers for USB ports next to each other.
