Increase your productivity while extending the life of your computer with the second-generation Kingston SSDNow V Series 128 GB Drive with Desktop Upgrade Kit Bundle. The innovative V Series Drive is built without moving parts, making it far less susceptible to damage from shock and vibration than traditional hard drives. In addition, it uses NAND flash memory components for data storage, increasing the computer's reliability and speed. If you're looking to improve the performance of your notebook or desktop computer without incurring the cost of buying a new one, look no further than the Kingston SSDNow V Series Drive.

Kingston demonstrates its 20-year leadership in design and innovation with the introduction of the SSDNow V Series Drive. Featuring a 2.5-inch form factor with flash memory components, the solid-state drive (SSD) uses NAND flash technology for storage, increasing your system's speed. And the convenient 2.5-inch size fits everywhere a regular hard drive does, including external enclosures.
With 128 GB of storage, the SSDNow V Series has plenty of capacity for today's demanding applications. Its Serial ATA interface, with data throughput up to 3.0 Gbps, launches programs and copies files rapidly, decreasing your wait time and increasing your productivity. Also, the drive's Trim Command feature enables read speeds of up to 200 MB/sec, and write speeds of up to 160 MB/sec. And for added peace of mind, support for Self-Monitoring Analysis Reporting Technology (SMART) alerts you to problems before they occur, so you get increased performance and reliability in one fast drive.
The Kingston SSDNow V Series comes with a convenient Desktop Upgrade Kit Bundle that contains all the accessories needed for a smooth desktop upgrade including system-cloning software, mounting brackets, and cables. Adding the drive to your desktop computer enables it to boot faster, utilizing the speed of its flash-based technology. And it works alongside your existing hard drive, optimizing its performance. The Desktop Upgrade Kit Bundle makes adding your new drive simple.

By upgrading your notebook to the SSDNow V Series Drive, you'll extend its life and get plenty of capacity to run today's powerful applications. You'll get the memory you need, decrease boot-up time, and increase your productivity. And with the drive's solid-state design, your notebook will run silently and operate cooler, using less power.
To make it easier for notebook users to upgrade their computers, the SSDNow V Series Drive with Notebook Upgrade Kit Bundle is also available.
Most hard drives spin on a platter, making them susceptible to vibrations and sensitive to bumps, especially when you're on the go. The Kingston SSDNow V Series Drive is built with flash-based technology that uses no moving parts. The result is a rugged, durable, and more reliable notebook that runs faster and quieter.
The Kingston SSDNow V Series not only increases performance--it also operates on less power while generating less heat, lessening its environmental impact. At a fraction of the cost of a new system, you'll save money and lower your energy consumption.
The SSDNow V Series Drive is backed by a three-year warranty.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V Series 128 GB SATA 3 GB/s 2.5- Inch Solid State Drive with Desktop Upgrade Kit Bundle SNV425-S2BD/128GB (Personal Computers)
I'm running this in a PC with 8 gig of ram and a 2.66ghz Core 2 Duo. I had been running a 7200rpm spinning disk until it had a bad sector that corrupted my Windows profile and I didn't want to wait for another issue, possible corrupting more.
The performance difference is amazing. This drive has very good specs as of this writing (4/1/2010), but not the best. To that I'd say- there are theoretical differences and practical ones. The difference between 200mb/s and 230 is mb/s is a trivial. Not worth the additional cost for me. I also read a professional review of this essentially saying the same thing. My boot time went from mid 30s to under 15 (from end of post to opening up internet explorer). Those higher end ($400ish) SSDs might shave another 1 or 2 seconds. My base windows 7 install used up about 20 gig. I'm installing everything onto this disk and am amazed every time I open an app with no hard disk noise and it is instant. Don't waste your money on the fastest cpu or the most memory, get an SSD. 6/29/2011 Update: still working great! Moved it to a new PC with a Core i5 and it is still everything I need. There are faster SSDs out there now, but would still look at the "low end" unless you must have a "benchmark computer."

The Best SSD for Windows XP, Vista and RAID?,

This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V Series 128 GB SATA 3 GB/s 2.5- Inch Solid State Drive with Desktop Upgrade Kit Bundle SNV425-S2BD/128GB (Personal Computers)
Rare that a product has so many winning benefits. My 2008 mid-range notebook is now getting up to 200MBs on sequential reads and 60MBs on sequential writes. That's a jump of 5x in read speed over the original HDD. The write speed is somewhat faster. Notebook now boots 3x faster. No more disk defragging for me, no more disk crashes, runs cooler and quieter. The only downside is living within the limits of this drive's capacity. You can always buy a larger SSD too.
The usual recommendation for an SSD is to buy one which supports the TRIM feature and use it with Windows 7. TRIM keeps a drive running at optimum speed. Yes, this drive supports TRIM. Very good. However, PCPerspective published an authoritative review on this drive questioning the commonly held notion that TRIM is a sine qua non feature when buying SSDs. Apparently, the drive's controller, a JMicron JMF618, has the smarts to keep the drive running at optimum speed without TRIM. If this is correct, it means that this drive can be coupled with non-TRIM operating systems such as Windows XP, Vista and RAID systems. A very radical claim indeed. I strongly feel that SSDs are so fast and so much more reliable than a notebook's HDD that you really must buy one ASAP. You won't be disappointed. This is a very compelling SSD to buy because it has both TRIM and a superior drive controller. You can't go wrong.

Do not defrag an SSD!,
This review is from: Kingston SSDNow V Series 128 GB SATA 3 GB/s 2.5- Inch Solid State Drive with Desktop Upgrade Kit Bundle SNV425-S2BD/128GB (Personal Computers)
This SSD is very good value for money. The only drawback with it is that its short burst read/writes are rather slow in comparison to other (more expensive) SSDs. I note that some customers in these threads still after all that has been written on the subject talk about defragging their new SSD. Do NOT defrag an SSD. It is technically impossible, it will do no practical good and can, in the worst case, actually lead to increased wear of your SSD. The analogue with SSDs to defragging a conventional HD is called TRIM. The crucial thing is to make sure that the controller of the SSD you buy is TRIM enabled and that you install Win 7 which compatible with the TRIM function. 2115|R1428O1JTZ4Y9D;2115|R14ECQFB7RNEP2;2115|R1UH5GPPL4WX8L;
