I have resorted to storing next to nothing on my PC....It all goes on KINGSTON FLASH DRIVES....I bought a 4 gig about 7 or 8 years ago and carry it in my uniform pocket EVERYDAY since...I'm a police officer and have a ton of documents and general personal stuff on it; it's been in & out of every temperature situation in & out of cars in every season all day long for years and every physical situation for those same years....Then several moths ago I bought a 16 gig to store all the documents, photos, etc, from my PC. Now I've bought this 64 gig monster to turn into a traveling jukebox...I'm about the only 29 year (and counting ) police officer in southwest Indiana who doesn't do the coffee, donut, and country music thing...I'm 50 years old and still and old classic rock, blues, and old school heavy metal head....Which, thanks to my new KINGSTON 64 GIG monster of a flash drive I keep people in my office constantly reminded of...I have over 2300 songs on her at the time, and when I checked the 'properties' of it on my computer, it's only about 1/3 full....You're about to see the internal & external hard-drive market fall to pieces...Anybody who isn't buying flash-drives to use as/in place of computer info is behind the times, and those who ARE using flash drives are buying the wrong ones if they're not depending on KINGSTON flash drives.... \\m// :)

(This review is for the 64GB version)

I never had a flash drive bigger than 4GB and I really needed one. These days 4GB is not near enough unless you only plan on storing text files.

The first problem I had with this drive is that it came pre-formatted to exFat which was ungodly slow. Transferring a 16MB file had a transfer remaining time of over 1 month. Pretty weird. After I reformatted the flash drive to NTFS it became way faster. I use TrueCrypt to encrypt the flash drive so if it ever gets lost or stolen no one can go through my contents. I suggest you also encrypt your drive if you will be storing passwords and such.

Overall its a great drive for the money.

Other reviews have covered this item well. I bought the 8GB and 64GB drives. Both are decently fast. Both did just what I expected, and fill their tasks well. They are worth a 5 star rating, especially given the prices.

I dropped one star just because of the physical thickness of the case. On the one hand it has a slidable protector, but it's hard to squeeze them into ports next to other USB drives. Also, I could probably put two of these side-by-side but they are wide enough to push up against each other substantially.

I have several of these Kingston flash drives in a variety of sizes and they are my preferred memory stick. They work so well that Kingston is all I buy for flash drives and memory upgrades. This 64GB drive I use for monthly backups that are stored off-site. The protective cover is a very smart and simple hinged arrangement that is convenient and does not get lost. I recommend the Kingston Data Traveler series.

Perfect for my needs. I'm able to carry around music and video and important files and not have to worry about not having enough storage with this thumb drive. It also helps me to store my important documents and data in an off-site location. I keep these around to meet all me storage needs. Well made, durable, reliable. Good product.

Hello, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. We apologize for any issue experienced with the DT101G2 flash drive. Please understand this drive is an entry level USB 2.0 drive and does not offer high performance transfer speeds. If you are looking for a faster USB drive, please consider one of our USB 3.0 performance drives like the DTR30/64GB. This drive performs at 25MB/s write in USB 2.0 and 30MB/s write in USB 3.0 ports. For further assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you. Please be sure to have the part in question on hand when you call.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.

I've been a SanDisk fan for the most part finding their flash drives to be faster, cheaper, and more reliable than others. I decided to give this Kingston drive a try for my Nexus 7 2013 with nexus media importer as I needed way more storage than the horrid 32gb max onboard.

I got this the other day from amazon and didn't expect much as Nexus OTG cables only support usb 2.0 which is leagues behind usb 3.0 data transfer speeds that I got accustomed to. To my surprise this drive was fast, shockingly so. Writing speeds exceeded my expectations ten fold, I was able to transfer my digital movie library, about 40 gigs, in under 2 hours. I don't know exactly how long it took as I just left the drive qued up with all my media and did other things, checking back once in awhile.

This drive is exceptional for a 2.0 drive and works miraculously for extremely large file transfer for tablets and phones. It's compact, small, and has a solid build quality. If your looking for a storage solution for your tablet or device look no further, this is the drive to get.
