I have been searching a long time for the perfect flash drive to keep on my keyring. (LaCie came so close but ultimately failed with their oversized, cheaply built "key shaped" product.) At last Kingston finally seems to have come up with the PERFECT design for a USB flash drive to keep on my keyring! It is the perfect (small) size, and fits very nicely on my keyring! I still have a few minor complaints though...

PROS

-Perfect physical size. This item is actually MUCH SMALLER and thinner than it looks in the photos!
-Brilliant design, including a hole that is just the right size for storing on a keyring! Does not add unnecessary bulk to your keys!
-Well-constructed and durable.
-You could fit a few of these on one keyring if you wanted to.
-Great price!*

CONS

-Ultra-thin Gold electroplating began wearing off within a few days of being on my keyring. *Save your money and buy the NON-gold-plated version of this product, which now comes in 32GB and 64GB sizes!:
Kingston Digital DataTraveler SE9 16GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive(DTSE9H/16GBZ)
-16GB is the largest storage size that is currently available for the gold product. I would have much preferred a 32gb or 64gb size so I don't HAVE to keep more than one of these on my keyring!
-Slow. This is definitely not the fastest USB flash drive out there.

I would have gladly paid more for a FASTER transfer rate. I knocked off one star for that, and one star for the useless gold coating that wears off far too easily. Other than that, GREAT product!

This is a very (Physically) small flash drive. It is not the fastest flash drive out there by any means. I tested it for R/W speed and got the following results: 3.5Mbs-write speed, & 17Mbs Read Speed. It should be more than adequate
for playing music or movies from the drive. I did play a 720p mp4 movie with it through a LG BP320 BluRay Player & it
was smooth and clear even on fast forward.

The 16GB rating is actually 14.5GB using Microsoft's disk properties tool. This is typical though of these USB flash drives. Most companies report 16GB...and they do have 16,000,000 bytes of storage space which equated to 14.5 actual GB.

This flash drive will be adequate if you don't need a high speed unit.

If you are copying 14.5GB to it..... be patient....... zzzzz. It will take hours. 6.8GB took about 32 minutes!

Thus you will have to be patient when loading it up!

I bought this because I wanted a 16GB flash drive.
Pros
1. It looks nice (the silver and gold ones both look nice)
2. It works as advertised. Plugs right in (I've used it on Linux and Windows 7, 8, and 8.1...works)
3. Stores files.
4. Was used in an episode of Dexter in the last season (his was silver).

Cons
1. It doesn't make you as cool as Dexter.

I use this as an OS installer drive. This means I use loading software and put the install files for the operating system onto this drive and use it to install the OS onto the computer instead of using a DVD or CD. That means this little puppy has been the digital equivalent of dragged through the mud on multiple occasions. It gets warm, but it's supposed to. The metal case is also a heat sink so that's how it lets out heat. Frankly, it's brilliant. Anyway, it's recommended. Works well.

I love the form-factor, which is thin like a key, and there is no part that could break off when you put this USB stick on your key-chain.

I've been carrying a couple of those USB-sticks on my key-chain for a few months now, and they are holding up very well.

I keep all of my pictures on these just in case so I can keep my art with me wherever I go. Considering I'm VERY rough with my keys and this hasn't been injured in the months that I've owned it, I'd say it's well worth the price.

Awesome, great sturdy metal feel to it. As with any color painted metal, the gold color will eventually wear out in a matter of days if you have a bunch of keys on your keychain as well rubbing up on it. I know mine has already shown wear after 2 days of it being attached to my key chain (it'll happen). Overall the product works great, and it will take the abuse and use. I have lost many other mini keychain usbs due to the actual crappy key ring from others. THIS ONE WILL NOT BREAK OFF. You would need to physically hack saw it off on purpose to get the ring on this to break.

Ok, speed might not be their strong point. For me, I was looking for a solid USB key that I can put on my key ring and stand up to the rigors of daily life. I had another brand that I really liked and that one even looked like a key. However, that one was not as sturdy as this one. This Kingston seems to be holding up quite well. I like the small size and the cool gold color. Now if they only made these in larger capacity.

This was exactly what I needed. A sturdy external memory device that could take a few bumps and bruises and still save and backup my info! Love the metal casing and the price was unbeatable!

By default the drive format is FAT32, I copied over about 10gigs of music to the drive and it took nearly an hour. Reformated the file system to NTFS(matching my computers) and accomplished the same take only slightly faster. FAT32 transfered at around 2.5 megs a second, and the NTFS hovered around 3 megs a second. This is fancy and gold in color, but has 2004 technology in it. You can do better if you are going to be transferring files to this thing on a daily basis.

So far, my Kingston flash drive has not lost its guts like some folks report. The design is so sexy: compact and stays on my key ring. Can it get any better?
