The add says it is a USB-3 that runs also on a USB-2. It also says that it has a 'Y' connector USB cable that permits it to connect to two USB-2 ports, presumptively to make it run faster on a 2. However, what it doesn't say is that it CANNOT run on a USB-2 without the Y connector. Thus, not only does one carry around a rather large thumb drive, you must also carry around a bulky cable. Not happy about this!

I bought this device after reading reviews here and at LegitReviews.com. It operates blazingly fast and I've only tried it thus far on USB 2.0 ports.

Heads-up: you must use the 2-port USB pigtail on USB 2.0 ports in order for the device to receive enough current to operate at full speed. USB 3.0 solves that problem by providing more current and having an even faster interface.

The Legit Reviews site tested the device -- it actually exceeded the advertised specs. It's such an improvement over my older, regular speed USB flash drive that I'm really delighted.

It's expensive but it's going to save me enough time in backing-up/restoring client files to make it worthwhile.

First of all, this device works as advertised. The body is a little thicker than I expected but it's fine for one of the first generation USB 3.0 large capacity flash drives. It's also pretty fast. I transferred a 3.63GB iso file from a Windows 7 (64-bit) SSD hard drive to the flash drive (plugged into a USB 3.0 hub) in 54 seconds. As with any other USB 3.0 devices out there, if your computer does not have an internal USB 3.0 port/adapter/controller, then don't even bother. When I use this USB 3.0 flash drive with a USB 2.0 port, I get the same speed results as if I were using a USB 2.0 flash drive. Overall, this is a solid drive that can be extremely useful to someone using a computer/laptop with a USB 3.0 adapter (built-in or PCI-E card).

This USB 3 thumb drive saved me from hours of time using a virtual windows server 2008 VM. By pushing the vm to the usb3 on my laptop I could get things done for my W2K8 class. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to take the load off of disk access times. I was running 3 vm's at the same time on it, A 3008 server, a vista client, and a windows 7 client. You will not be able to do that in an efficient manner with a laptop and a partitioned hard drive.
