Product Description

Capacity: 64GB

Kingston Technology's Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) and Secure Digital Extended capacity (SDXC) memory cards are ideal for storing and transferring HD video recordings, high-quality photos and other large capacity files. Fully compliant with the latest SD Association specification, they are performance classes of SD memory cards designed to meet the storage demands of high quality digital still and video cameras and other personal electronic devices. Starting at 4GB, SDHC/SDXC cards offer larger-volume data storage and HD Video recording. In addition, Kingston's SDHC/SDXC cards use speed "class" ratings known as Class 10** that deliver a minimum data transfer rate of 10MB/s for optimum performance with SDHC/SDXC devices. SDHC - FAT32 formatting. 4GB-32GB SDXC - ExFAT formatting. 64GB-128GB. Although identical in size to standard SD cards, the SDHC/SDXC cards are designed differently and are only recognized by SDHC & SDXC host devices. To ensure compatibility, look for the SDHC/SDXC logo on cards and host devices (cameras, camcorders, etc.) For added reliability and durability, our solid-state SDHC/SDXC memory cards are built of nonvolatile memory components and have no moving parts that could wear out or break. All cards are 100-percent tested and are backed by a lifetime warranty.

Although the file system may prove confusing to many at first, this card is one of the closest things you can get to a mini-SSD (tiny non-moving hard drive) for at or under ~$100 (less on sale).

I decided to write a review here because many other reviews didn't mention a few critical pieces of information.

First and foremost, this card does support alternate file systems. Out of the box, if you don't have at least Windows XP SP1 (with update KB955704) on your PC, OSX 10.6.4 on your mac, and the "SDXC" logo on your camera or device, this card may not be recognized properly in its native exFAT filesystem, and your various computers and devices may not be able to format it in a way that is compatible with your other devices. If you format the card with NTFS, it will work on older Windows systems (and UNIX-based machines with ntfs-3G or FUSE-ntfs). If you format it with FAT32, however, it will work on almost every device I tested, even those which claim to support the SDHC (32GB max) standard. This is because there are basically no physical differences between older SDHC cards and these newer SDXC cards except for their capacity. Additionally, this means if you format the card with FAT32 on a compatible computer, you can use it in almost every camera, computer, or device that supports 4GB cards. That's right, when formatted to FAT32, I've tested it in a couple of devices that advertised a maximum capacity support of only 4GB, and it still played well with all the other old devices too!

Compatibility aside, the speed of the card deserves note.

I bought this card in March of 2013. By May, the card would not function in my tablet. After reformatting it, it still resulted in continuous I/O errors. Unfortunately Amazon would not return this item because it was out of their 30 day window. Buyer Beware!
A followup: I was initially frustrated, but Kingston's lifetime warranty was honored very professionally by the Kingston company. I mailed them back my card and they sent a new one that has worked perfectly thus far. Therefore I am raising my rating to 3 stars. If it works for an extended length of time, I will raise it again because of the excellent customer service.

Rather slow for a Class 10 card. It writes 11MB/s and reads 22MB/s. My other card is 64GB SanDisk, also Class 10, and it writes 20MB/s and reads 45MB/s. I bought this to have some extra storage in my MacBook Air and it's a perplexing choice: less storage, but quicker, or more storage but slower. BTW, test results were the same on the Air and my Dell Latitude regardless of the filesystem.

My office recently purchased several Dell laptops with 256 GB Solid State Disk (SSD) drives. We quickly realized that many users store more data locally than a 256 GB drive can handle. Hence, we purchased and handful of these class 10 SD cards to supplement disk space. They are fast and large enough to make up for space that would have been available if we had purchased mechanical disks. They are a good solution to our problem.

Good price liaisoned between CircuitCity and Amazon. The best price around outside of rip-off, risky eBay who guarantees nothing more than getting ripped off while they get nickels and dimes from professional hustlers from their auctions.

Well, the Kingston SDHC XC works fine with the native exFat32 format In Windows 7 Ultimate (and I assume in Vista too). However, since I do most of my computer chores in a Windows partition running Linux Ubuntu Narley Norwale I had to format to NTFS to get the SDHC XC card to work.Naturally, the format was done in Windows Ultimate 7 not in the Linux partition.

The format took a few minutes at most. Did the ol' quick format. Windows NTFS takes a bigger chunk of memory to format compared to exFat32. But with a 128 GBs SDHC XC card you'll never miss that chunk of memory/space.

Now I have a mini-hard drive the size of a thick postage stamp.

Fast delivery in the NYC, NY area even with a big storm with the moniker of Sandy.

SD10V/16GB. Write speed is 7.6MB/s, noticeable lower than guarantied 10MB/s for class 10. It is actually slightly slower than a few years old Kingston Class 4 of the same size. The read speed is 14.3MB/s, again slightly slower than the Class 4 card.

The biggest disappointment is that even though 7.6MB/s is good enough for my camcorder, it would not accept the card for full HD resolution, while it accepts Class 4. Seems like the camcorder was not able to recognize the class and assumed the lowest Class 2.

Less than fifteen days after I got this for a Raspberry Pi mini home server using Linux, the card suddenly died. It was also awfully slow (Less than 3 MB/s, way below the Class 10 stated) when transferring files back and forth. It is sad because Kingston is supposedly a strong player in the flash storage market. Will return it for a refund.

I use this as my download storage on my Lenovo Yogapad 11s.
The writingspeed is measured around 13 mbytes/second - which is sufficient even for a fast Internetconnection.
Good reliable product to a very nice price!
